Improving my map of Greece

You forgot to add Stagyra in the macedonian city list. The birthplace of Aristotle :)
Although it probably was a small village, and i wouldnt add Rekanati if i was making an italian city list, although Leopardi was from there ;) (not that i really like Leopardi, but one of his books was important for me when i was 17,5) But many of those towns in the list were villages i guess, so i would add it :)

Yep, add Stagyra. Unless I put that on the Thracian list... :nervous:

I also had a brainwave over Mycenaean cities... some of the Achaean cities (especially Helice) date from that time and were extremely important, and Achaea is not included. Therefore some of those cities could be added...?

Allright, let's freeze civ list. I think we can deal with a small city list for Iolcos.

Mongoloïd Cow, you did a fantastic job. :goodjob:

MC, Varwnos and Gagliaudo, I'll share all credits with you. This is OUR map ! ;)

Iolkos' small city list? There's only one city!!!

I guess we can find just a few other ;)

Here are some cities near Iolkos. It's not historically acurate, but it's better than nothing ;)

Iolkos
Volos
Makrinitsa
Portaria
Anakasia
Agria
Drakeia
Ano Lexonia
Kato Lexonia
Makrirachi
Anilion
Kissos
Visitsa
Kala Nera
Mileai

Great, now lets see the leaders... (BTW: Put Volos at the end of the list. The same city with a different name looks tacky if they are near each other on the lists) I suppose where there's a will...

Thanks, it was a pleasure :)

Re: Araden. It is on Crete. It was called "Araden" quite clearly though.
I knew Aradus/Arad/Arvad was an island before Syrian coast, colonized by Cretans and Phoenicians... Araden...??? Did you find it on a GERMAN map  ???

Re: Stemykluros. I have never heard of it as an ancient city either. But this very good map I have of ancient Greece clearly states it was.
I found Stenyklaros as battle fought in 2th Messenian War (7th century bC).

Stagyra: IIRC, it was a Calcidican city, conquered by Philippos of Makedonia only around 350 bC...

Good boy, you know Recanati... I was there years ago (just on the "Infinity" hill)... with my former-former girlfriend :( (it was an important story...).
But now let's back think to Hellas ! :)

Little quiz: tell me the Infinity of Leopardi... :D

I foud an old dictionnay of greek mythology in my library :D

I edited the first post with the new informations. It's not yet complete, but many civs are playable now.

I dont know the infinity ;| I only know the poem about the stars and the town's clock. Vienne il vento regando il suon del ora dalla tore del borgo etc :) (i messed up the spelling i am sure) ;)

Maisse: i think that the iolcan city list you made has mostly some modern towns/villages in. Im not sure that Volos was even medieval, nearby Pelion was at least medieval, but probably not really ancient ;| Perhaps you should replace Iolkos with some other civ, like sarmatians?

Mi dispiace, ma scrivere in italiano e difficile (the same basic level of italian that can be found in any thomas mann novel)

the "Infinity" quiz... was a joke...

the 'correct' answer was... "TO LEOPARD" !!!!!!!!!!!

You're right, I took modern names. It's better than nothing.

I don't know about sarmatians. Could you tell us more ? Where did they live ?

To replace Iolkos, I have two main choices: Akarnania and Phocide. I would prefer Phocide for some reasons : it includes Delphi, MC allready made a city list,...

Phocide Pelagon
religious, commercial
Deion, Phokos
?

Iolkos would merge with Thessalia.

Yes, Phokis is a good choice, so are the locrians, whose inclusion would give immense joy to MC i think :) Besides, he deserves them after all of his work :)

the sarmatians were just some barbarian tribe bordering the thracians
Acarnania, as you know from my unfinished mod, doesnt have many cities

Ok ! I merge Iolkos with Thessalia and I replace it with Phokis.

Do you think it would be correct to merge Phthia with another civ and replace it with Lokris ? If so, it's done ;)

iirc MC had said that Delphoi wasnt really controlled by Phokis, which would make sense sincce it was a famous oracle city, so it was independant. Locris (the three of them) have a somewhat larger size than Phokis i think. Acarnania would be ok too, last time i posted about Acarnania i was thinking of Ambracia :borg:
Acarnania is a cool civ, i mean not many civs have a capital with such a cool name as Stratos! :borg: :borg: :borg:

@Gagliaudo: i didnt get the infinity quiz joke

Phthia would be incorporated into Thessaly. As I said before, Phthiotis was one of the four Thessalian provinces.

Delphi was never controlled by the Phocians (except during the Sacred Wars) but the city is probably the best choice as the capital because of the Amphiktyonic League in which most of the Phocian cities were members of (along with Phocis).

IIRC, I already made lists for Locria and Phocis (and a couple of other possible civs too).

Phokis, Akarnania and Lokris. We have to choose two ! My own choice would be Lokris + Phokis. What about you ?

If it wasnt for MC i would say phokis+acarnania, but like i said he deserves locris ;) Keep in mind though that Opos is very close to Delphoi in your map

I edit post#1 :

Phthia and Iolkos merge with Thessalia
Two new civs : Lokris and Phokis

1) Phokis+Lokris (united!!!) (they're little and not much cities)
2) Akarnania :)
And everybody's happy :D
