Windows 7 beta
Age of Imperialism 4.0 mod with No Raze patch

Game crashes as the inter-turn is finishing up right after build queues finish. I believe it says, "Civ 3 Conquests has stopped responding."

edit: I'm guessing I don't have enough RAM (1GB total).

Could it be the version of Civ3Conquests.exe? 1.21 vs. 1.22?

1GB of RAM sounds like plenty, depending on how much of it free RAM. I have WinXP and use CachemanXP by OuterTechnologies to track how much free RAM I have. This is freeware. A version for Vista does exisit but I don't think they have anything for Win7.

They had Windows 7 version that I'm using, but I dont' think it helped. I am using it with the default settings, which I think is the problem. If I could tailor it well, it may work.

One thing surprising though is that it says I only have 500-600MB free at any time when I have no programs running. I turn off most all start up applications, so basically Windows and some tiny, minor programs are using up 300MB+...seems high to me.

What are the problem details? Are they just some Microsoft/computer-language lines or acceptable English?

Well as CommandoBob said, could be because of the version? 1.21? or could it be because of No Raze hack? Unluckily(sp?) my little brother just changed his OS from Windows 7 to XP so I can't test this on his computer. :(

I can't help with the Civ/Win7 question, but I can explain this. MS has finally gone to the Unix method of using/reporting memory usage. If you, the user, aren't using it, it will keep existing system processes in memory. As soon as you need the memory for an app, it will free the unnecessary memory and give it to you.

(Actually, most of the memory-reporting widgets I have used on my Linux systems show the 'really' used as well as the 'total' used, so I can see that even though the total used is a Gig or more, what is *really* being used is a few hundred Meg. ;))
