In Development Random Events

Oh, one more thing that I forgot to mention. My plan was, that the more production the world does (apart from solar power), there will be global warming effects. And the more there will also be these natural disasters.

But I suppose you already had that global warming in place.

Here's an update:

Currently have 30 different kinds of random and triggered events and over 50 decision events.

I have recently been working on weather events, including some that were suggested here, such as sandstorm, blizzard, and forest fire.

also added a hurricane that starts in ocean and travels one hex a turn for a certain number of turns. currently, the course is random, so it may hit something, or could turn an do no damage.

If any one has any events/decisions they'd like to see, feel free to post.

I was wondering, does this have taxation?
You could discover a new tech already at medieval era. You get (say) 5% more gold and you loose one happiness. Or if you wish, you can increase the taxes, when you get 6% more gold, but then you loose 2 happiness.
As the time goes by and the landlords are less tough on peasants and citizens, the life gets easier and more smiley. Meaning at the renaissance era you only get 4% more gold and you loose one happiness. You can again increase taxes by 1% and you then lose 2 happiness.
And the same happens when time goes on. Industrial era only brings 3% more gold, modern era 2%.. and then finally atomic & information era 1%.
There could also be cap, so you cannot increase taxes more than max 8 or 10 %.

I had another idea.
You were discussing that earlier, but I may have a different approach.

Can Happiness be city based, not civ based as it is now?

Example: You have 4 cities fairly next to each other and then one city far away. That distant city has different religion now than rest of the nation and probably has close ties to surrounding area. If city is unhappy (maybe also partly because of the taxes?) it may want to break free. It could either become independent (a city state?) or join another civ.

Sure that would make you angry, but probably would not result a war. If that joins a civ, that civ could then annex it normally - just without that unhappiness penalty.

I vaguely remember, that something like this had been part of some early civ game...?

I am now thinking Crimea for example. They were part of Ukraine, but the Russian population living over there wanted to join Russia instead. Putin sent some troops and zimzalabim, without a single shot being fired, it seems now to be part of Russia.
Or think what has happened in Yugoslavia, or Soviet Union. Or how the United States were born. Or.. Basically population of a certain region were unhappy about the prevailing situation, and wanted therefore to either become independent, or join somebody else instead.

Happiness is hard coded. Each city does have it's own happiness "production", There are events where based on local condition a city, or group of cities may revolt or join different civ.

Other than that happiness is harder to mod, as it is hard coded, and also is calculated at the end of each turn, so some modifications won't even carry over to next turn.

Taxation was asked about, so I added a tax screen to the economic pop up.

Tax income is calculated based on population (the screenshot it from a test game I started so pop was only one) it requires the Taxes tech, (classic era tech) and the rate effect happiness, too high and several things can happen, such as a "tea party" where citizens destroy a luxury source, citiy can riot, or even revolt, and at the highest levels, there can be a civ wide revolt.

this is part of the event system, and can be disabled with it, however if there are thos who want the event system, but not taxation, then I can set it as a separate option(of course, if you don't use the tax screen, nothing will happen anyway)
