This is what my tech tree looks like ATM:

I took GE from liberty finisher to build HS, took GE from HS to build PT and bulbed astronomy to take Rationalism.
Where in the tech tree would you go from here in?

Edit: Nevermind the obviously extremely low science output. This was just a game where I was messing around but I do often find myself in this place and I'm not sure about what to tech.

Assuming this is a science bid, just start the long, hard slog to Scientific Theory. That is your next key tech.

For the immediate next tech, you could take any of Currency, Metal Casting, or Engineering...really up to you and your needs. If I were picking without seeing your map I would go Metal Casting and get a workshop out there.

I was wondering if there was any one tech or tech line you should always be aiming for. Say you are Babylon on a pangea and you're closest neighbors are hostile which is often the case on deity.
You have 3-4 RA's with the friendly AI's coming in about 20 turns or so.

Start up some research agreements and head for Scientific Theory. Hopefully you built the porcelain tower and have the first point into Rationalism.

Read the OP before posting please(trying to not sound mean).

So I take it scientific theory is what you aim for after getting rationalism?

Currency-Chivalry first, so median value for RA will be renaissance techs.
other than that, you'll get medieval-tech worth RA. (you have only 20turns right? seems no choice there)

and with RAs, you'll be able to get Chemistry and Longsword/Cannon rush. or get metallurgy and bulb rifle.
