If PRC becomes a multi party democracy then reunification will be a lot easier. ROC only the lsat years became from a one party gonverment to a real democracy but at leastit make a try to make reforms. PRC is one of the worst nations of the world in terms of human rights and political freedom. Also many taiwanese want indepedence and a republic of taiwan.

Ideally Taiwan should reunite with a democratic mainland China, with the Communists, Nationalists and whatever all participating in the process. I believe this is acceptable to most Mainlander as well as Taiwanese. It is currently not acceptable, however, to the CCP.

Doubtful for the simple fact that the Kaomintang/Greens would go from national political parties of significance to insignificant regional political parties. I mean that's fine if political suicide was a done thing. At a stretch it could be justified if Taiwan was to gain significant advantages from a union, but considering that Taiwan is on balance wealthier per capita than the mainland and has been developing just fine of its own that's unlikely. What would be likely to happen would be that Taiwan acknowledges that that it is indeed part of a 'China' including the PRC, abandons some of its more objectionable claims, like being the 'real' China, in exchange for a greater measure of economic access to the mainland, with stuff like what to do about the whole ROC military, foreign affairs, citizenship et. al. hitched to the indefinite 'we will talk about this later' wagon. That's assuming of course that an improvement in economic access is worth those kind of concessions; I suspect not considering that it hasn't hurt the ROC all that much to date, in a tangible sense. (I'm not worried about lost economic growth because that's theoretical growth and let's face it most people aren't aware of it and/or don't care/if people were losing money out of the back pocket in a visceral sense then that's a rather different thing).
