Increase Memory on 64bit Machines

I definitely have a x64-based PC (running bootcamp), I downloaded the above file, and put it in my beyondthesword folder (running Civ4 through Steam), and opened the 4gb_patch, and linked it to the "Civ4BeyondSword.exe". I ran the game through steam, but haven't noticed a performance improvement in turn time loading. Do I need to run it through the .exe directly in the beyondthesword folder?

It will not affect performance. It will however avoid crashes if the game ends up using more than 2 GB of RAM. Steam and GOG have pre-patched their civ4 and civ4colo. This tool is for the disc version, through it's harmless on the downloaded versions. It will change a setting to what it already is, so no change.

Colour me crazy, or maybe its something Leoreth did recently performance wise, but I've been using it (on steam version), and I've found turn timers to be faster than before - but as others have said, maybe only 20% faster.
