IndieStone D.U.C.K.S mod

Actually, as long as we're only talking about the beliefs a civ has about the End Days, and not actually bringing them about supernaturally (I mean, I loved the Sheaim in FFH2, but...), an apocalypse tree would be pretty fun. Something with various "signs of the end times" that your people would then interpret world events as. For instance, you could arrange for your religion to have something about how the Ultimate Evil will "seek to touch steal the heavens from the One True God" and you could get a massive bonus against anyone aiming for a science victory by declaring them the Ultimate Evil when they start work on a spaceship... at the price of strangling your own space program in the crib. The truly perverse could convince their people that nuclear Armageddon is something to be desired, resulting in happiness and golden ages from building up arms stockpiles and attempting to reduce the world to radioactive ruins.

You know, that idea is a really awesome expansion on mine. I love it! Good show, KC. I hope lemmy101 agrees.

EDIT: In fact, scatch all what I wrote before. I shall explain it better:

The purpose of our mod is to simulate the evolution of World religions. To this end, specifying the nature of the apocalypse (even if it is just the belief in such things) is not something we would want to do in a literal sense.

As your religion becomes more and more pious, more and more can (that's "can", not "will" for anyone worried about this mod being about religion as a force for intolerance / war) previous doctrines you have picked (perhaps with the best of intentions) bite you on the backside as your more fundamentalist followers start issuing demands. Perhaps some of your early doctrines in combination have inspired your followers with the belief in an End of Days. You possibly could have predicted this when you picked them but, heck, those perks were awfully tempting and now, unfortunately, your followers have decided to take them as literal... oh dear, they've demanded that you wage war on the spaceship building heathens. Whoops.

This is the sort of mechanism we find much more interesting and rewarding than a literal "pick your apocalypse" system. That said, we welcome anyone who makes a mod mod of ours.

I'm very much looking forward to this, both to actually play it in vanilla CIV5 and to integrate into my own mod. (with lemmy's permission, of course)

This looks like the coolest mod ever. I was never a fan of Civ IV's religion except for the shrine money but this looks like a much better intergration. Best of luck guys.

:eek2: :eek2: :eek2:

HOLY ****!! The level of complexity you guys have (just from reading the first post mind you) is so astounding to me I am in complete awe!!

I honestly don't even know what to say other than oh my freakin god you guys are incredible. I'm going back to read the rest of the thread.

edit: so it isn't released yet and now I'm disappointed. :(

Would love to see this in my game. Can I suggest something? Is it possible for you to add a God of Balance to one of the branches?

Hey guys, I'm just curious as to how your development is going. I'm eagerly awaiting a release. :)

I'm going to take this as a sign that you are both hard at work *looks hopeful* :)

Good to hear. This mod is definitely number one on my Most Anticipated List. Even by itself it would be a great mod, but when I think of how this mod can be combined with others... The holiday break just doesn't seem long enough. Thanks to you and the Captain for all your hard work.

wow....just wow....just noticed this thread today....it looks ducking fantastic, looking forward to trying it out when it gets released

kudos to lemmy and captainbinky for your work and feedback so far
