Hey all,

Sorry if this has been answered somewhere already, but I searched high and low, couldn't find anything. I am just wondering what Indigenous Communities do? Is there any reason why I would not want to build an improvement over the top of them, other than for RP reasons?

They will be the focus of a number of potential diplomacy missions DH has planned. For now, keep in mind that strategically, they represent a pretty nice gold drop for plundering (best to do it with a Thief or Rogue that gains a bonus to Pillage results.)

I'll warn you before I implement the bit where pillaging causes the natives to get restless and rise up against your blatant disregard of their cultural heritage.:mischief:

Oh, That's going to be the incentive not to kill them. I just thought that they were worthless features that just reduced tile yields. Hopefully that part will get in soon.

Yep they are great for that. I actively hunt them down and pillage them.

I hate the graphics. Why not get rid of tribal huts and use their graphic for indigenous communities instead?

They have been removed. For now.

Why? I was thinking of making a couple of city vicinity buildings such as ...

- Native Reservation
- Assimilation School
- Indigenous Heritage Site

I also was thinking of some sort of Native Guide related things where they would know the area better than the outsider. Not sure how to make it into a building (or unit).

What then would we use for goodie hut graphics?

Nothing. They make no sense now you don't start as a civilization but a group of humans wandering around.

Removing them would be a major balance change, having hundreds of gold from them makes a huge difference when you stockpile enough animals that you start losing a few gold per turn without any way of generating extra gold at the start.

I also don't see why indigenous communities should be removed, I felt they worked fine as a feature in v27, even if they lacked any buildings associated with them.

I agree completely. The news of their removal was saddening.
