Trying to start IGE in a Gods&Kings Into the Renaissance game, got an error message when pressing Ctrl-i.

"IGE couldn't start, probably because of another mod.
* Please report ...
[skull]line:94: attempt to index field '?' (a nil value)"

This was a game that was started without IGE loaded, I'm trying to play around with a save game.

Player nation is Austria in case it matters.

Addendum:
Tried start a new Into the Renaissance game with IGE loaded from the start, Ctril-i fails with the same error message too. However, clicking the *IGE* menu header in the top of the screen opens the editor interface. That might well have worked with the previous save file too, I'm completely new to IGE and just noticed that option just now. :)

I get different results if I play different civilizations. For example, as Spain IGE will start on the third click of the button but then the whole map is filled with clouds and one can't really do anything.

With other civilizations IGE will start on the third click of the button and allow editing although the interface is messed up with five edit buttons, five paint buttons, etc.

This only seems to be a problem with the Renaissance scenario (which is my current favorite of course, lol).

The first two clicks of the IGE button yield the error
"IGE couldn't start, probably because of another mod.

I have tried both v27 and v28. Cleared cache, etc. I have no other mods loaded.

Add Poaukai i have made some of your wonders compatible with G and Kings ( i cant wait so i done it by myself;)), and i have the same problems, but when you choose a city and select the wonder from the city menu and then hurry the production by IGE, you see the splash and all looks fine.

Ditto! It looks like it also fixed the Renaissance Scenario errors, I checked several of the Civilizations (which were only partially working) and even Spain (which wouldn't work at all) is working now.

Haven't tried the v28 but run into a couple things...
1.Remember i told you about the "we love the king" it does pop up on its gold icon and such but it takes up to 11 turns to see the city loves its king this by pressing the 250 button.
2. adding impovements to a teammate or a citystate. i get the "You need Iron" icon that through IGE.
Bonus: since Have Fun mod may cause freezing anyone possible instead of clicking the mouse too many times i can't just type in the gold, culture, or the faith?
 
Hello,

I've tried multiple times to install and use the ingame app. However, each time I try to load it, the IG icon is not there where it reportedly should be. I have tried to start a new game and a saved one and nothing. I have also cleaned out the cache file without any luck. Is there something else I could be doing wrong?

Three translations in a row?! This is Christmas before Christmas, thank you so much. :D
I tested it and everything works, I just added it on the beta3 below. Unfortunately, I do not think I can add an option to let you force IGE to use the ITA translations on a non-ITA Civ5. So if you want to enjoy IGE in ITA, you will need to have your game client in ITA or modify the files on every version to make IGE believes the ITA xml is the English one.
By the way, you only need the international version (UTF-8) for all civ5/windows editions (I guess you tried it on a ITA Windows, then on an English Windows).

DonQuiche, all the thanks are up to you! I think the best is using - as you chose - the UNICODE version of the localization.

About the problem: I don't know what to think, really. I use more (and created the translation with) the Mac (OSX Lion) and I found the problem. Then I tried the translation on PC (Win7 Ultimate) and the problem was there too. Both the OS are English based with an English interface. Both are UNICODE compliant. Both Steam are installed in English and Civ5 is in English too... (I can't stand a bad translation and prefer to read in English :) )

I'll make more accurate check tonight when I'll come home. :scan:

The time you had five terrain/units buttons was because you had two versions of IGE on your hard drive. Never do that with civ5 mods. ;)
Regarding the fog bug, could you provide more details please?

Did you also check that you can safely open and close IGE four times in a row with autosave still enabled ?

Now, regarding the log you provided, it seems to not make sense. oO I need some additional infos please:
* Did you try to modify IGE in any way?
* You said the game crashed. So civ5 did hung or it did bring you back, did it? Or did it just display an error popup?
* Try to repair your game (on Steam, right-click civ5, properties, local files, "check cache integrity").

Thank you for the reports, I will look at those both. Now, I guess you mean you wan't switch to another player because it makes the game crash, do you? If so, you just have to enable safe mode (right-click the IGE label).

Enable the mod. Do NOT click back. Click next. Do NOT click back. Click solo (on top). ;)

And you did use the unicode version all those times? Maybe the unicode encoding (UTF-8 BOM) wasn't the correct one (UTF-16?). Then it would not happen with the version I included in IGE (I only downloaded one of them and re-encoded it).

Used Coda on Mac and PsPad on PC. Tonight I'll check witch encoding option is set as default while opening xlm files.

Regarding the bugs you reported...
* What icon are you talking about for "we love the king"? The vanilla notification on the bottom right (not the IGE one with the gold icon)? There is no way I can make it happen since I magically make the city happy, without providing the wanted resource to it. It has always been like that.
* About the "we need iron", I couldn't make it happen.

"You have more than one version of IGE on your hard drive.[NEWLINE]This confuses civ5 and it will cause IGE to not work properly. Delete the older versions."
Yep, new versions will now automatically detect those conflicts and report it to the user.
 
Version 28 has been released.
Moar bugfixes.

  • Added German, Spanish and Italian localizations! Thanks to Al Qamar, Emerald Viper and Error404.
  • An error message is now displayed when you have more than one version >= v28 of IGE on your hard drive.
  • Made the error display better when EnableLuaDebugLibrary is set to 1 in config.ini.

Bugfixes
  • Civ5 will no longer crash on startup on macs!
  • Deleting a city will no longer sometimes cause the units panel to bug.
  • IGE is now compatible with the "Into the Renaissance" scenario.
  • The "show resources" options will now work as expected.
  • The culture bonuses will now be properly displayed on all tool tips.
  • Floating messages now only display IGE messages.
  • Slightly altered some texts for consistency purposes.
