I must have been a good boy or the game decided to make up for the last two defeats but this is the insanest start I ever had...btw this is a perfect example of the usual 2 scouts, one city NC start

If anyone is interested to play this one (continents, small, quick, emperor)...the save is attached...

That's a fantastic start, though I've had some that were at least close to it since the latest patch. However, if you moved NW one tile to settle directly on the cattle you would have gotten 6 "stable bonus tiles", could build a water mill, plus had 3 silver and 2 dyes. Would make for an outstanding OCC.

if you settle on a grassland cow, you won't get the +1 production from stable in the city tile. you'll still be at 3 food/1 production.

there's sheep in third ring to the south, so a stable in his current position will eventually get to +6.

That's a nice start in terms of resources. Almost everything is covered, including strategics. If the Dyes were Marble, it would be perfect. You ought to be able to build a production powerhouse here once you have a stable and a few mines.

Your terrain is kinda meh. Desert tiles and not directly adjacent to a river - though you can build the garden next to that lake I think. Always important to have the garden in the capital, since it produces most of your GPs. You also aren't coastal and aren't next to a mountain, and your land is narrow enough that you can't really drop another city on the coast/mtn adjacent to the southwest and not be placing them awfully tight.

Still, a nice opening with promise.

well, thanks for the feedback. it's the best start I ever got and I'm looking forward how this games turns out...I went to conquer Babylon and settle some more cities o the continent and now research the hell out of it and go for science victory...hopefully beating India with their cultural victory strategy this time (maybe I'll invade them at one point just to make sure...)

My all time favorite start:

(non legendary start earth map, several months back. I never finished the game but I probably should have tried)

Wow, that is crazy. Never seen a start anywhere close to that. Not sure how you feed that city but what a gold (silver) powerhouse!

agreed with MadDjinn, esp since there are a few other earth spawns that are about as crazy. There is one I believe it's NW africa area where if you move one tile, you get 6/1/1 (3 diff luxuries, 6 of the first and one of each other) that are all calendar resources (vary uppon games, mine were 6 dyes, 1 wine 1 silk) but where all of the adjacent tiles are grasslands flat&hills with a few forests.

yup.

Actually, I think the only 'good' North American start is in Mexico/Texas. Starting in Quebec/Eastern Canada isn't great due to the Tundra. Starting on the West coast of NA is horrible; unless you're the Incans. The Gulf of Meixco region start lets' you build triremes that can make it to the Eurasia area to meet all of the Civs/CSs over there before hitting Astronomy. Very useful; especially when looking for RAs to hit Astronomy.

Then there's the 'desert' African start. Or Mid East one. Painful to start there given there's usually someone in the Egypt area who then expands to the nice parts of Africa before you.

Here is my fairly amazing start. This was the day of, or the day after the Vikings were released.

I spent like a minute laughing...there had to be something map specific there, I could swear "standard" resource were meant to force no more than 2 different types of resources within 3 hexes of settler spawn. A start like this with 7 resources of 4 different type is simply broken imho.

Look at my first start when the Vikings were released:

5 Deer, 3 Whales and 4 Fish is amazing. It's a tundra start, but almost all tiles surrounding Copenhagen are forested or with hills, so the tundra penalty is not applied.

Later in the game, this city became a production powerhouse. With a river next to it, it could have been amazing!.

Yes, this is a standard start, the only time I used a Legendary Start was some time ago, with Rome, and it didn't give me iron  Haven't used it since.

This was one of the new maps that was released at the same time, not the Plus versions, but one of the 'static' maps with 'random' elements.

Here's a start I just got that I thought I'd share.

I was very pleasantly surprised to see 2 silver, 1 gold, 3 cows and 2 fish for this coastal start.

Here's the save if anyone wants it. I have all current premium DLC's installed, so they'll be required if you want to try this map.
