Intelius now sells cell phone information.

There are discounted rates for bulk cell phone numbers.

Well, then we have a new DC Madam phonebook in the works. Yours for only $15! Step right up!

Horrible invasion of privacy, I would say. If someone meant to have their phone number and other information out in public view, they would do so.

But if what's proposed in the OP becomes legal, will you view the donotcall.gov site where you can asked to be removed from telemarketers lists as an obstruction of the free market?

It is legal.

I think you are painting me with one large brush, because I support the free market, I must obviously be against all government intervention.

I would be in complete favor of a "privacy amendment" to the Constitution. Something forbidding the transfer of information on people without the said person's express consent. Screw the information peddlers.

Good call VRWC.

I'm with you there.

Besides, it's hard to have a free market if people are worried about having their (figurative) guts out on display every time they take a step.

Actually it's not you I'm painting with a large brush - it's the objectionist in this thread...

I do find it interesting that most proponents of the free market are calling for government regulations as soon as said free market becomes annoying.

I call it being pragmatic. You may be thinking of anarcho-capitalists. Anarcho-anything is bad news in my book.

I am all for (a relatively, more or less) free market, until it starts infringing on upon the privacy, rights, etc of the citizenry.
