Interesting Screenshots

I almost gave up on this standard chieftain 100k attempt due to a lack of SGL's. It was a very nice starting position with 4 potential 4-turn settler factories, but no SGL's would not make it competitive for the HoF. I was close to the republic slingshot, so I gave it one last chance - and what a slingshot it turned out to be :)

:bowdown::dance::faint:

Now that is a slingshot!!!!

Meh, no big deal, just your run of the mill 0.04% shot.

It was truly great. I had almost thrown the game away, and now I'm looking at a finish date in the 700's, possibly even better.

DWetzel: So you're saying it's a 1 in 2500 chance. Then it shouldn't be too long before the next double SGL

Anyways, how do i post a picture?

Thanks, Meteor!

Here's something interesting: Lake Galleys!

EDIT: should be fixed now.

You missed some spots. :p

Great way to make canals. Just put a city on an isthmus betwee two large bodies of water, and viola! It's not very realistic though. Maybe in Civ V they will add actual canals that you and your allies can move through.

I do this every chance I get and I always name the towns Panama 'Something' or 'Something' Panama

Yup, assuming my memory serves me right, it's a 2% chance for non-scientific civs to get a SGL when they're the first to a tech. So you hit the 1/50 shot twice.

I could be wrong, and maybe it's 3%, I don't feel like looking it up, in which case your chance to hit the double was over twice my estimate (but still 0.09%, so pretty good!)

So here's some proof that at least sometimes the Vikings really go berserk.

Spoiler :
Tugela.jpg

Edit: for you puritans about what constitutes a proof out there, Tugela was the capitol of Zululand one turn before, of a total holding of 3 1-tile islands.

Once in a hotseat game as the Maya, I was at war with Scandinavia, and had totally disregarded a galley in my territory. I was player one, so I didn't get to see AI moves.

On the next turn I notice that Quirigua, a coastal outer core city that was defended with a spearman for military police, was Scandinavian. I had cavalry, so retaking it was easy, but it still was quite surprising.
