I am fairly sure you can break 80k easily.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, but I'm not so sure (on this map with this start). In 640 I had a score of 5598, and in 650 a score of 5796, a 198 point jump. I have a domination limit of 4432. In Moonsinger's 81k game in 640 she had a score of 8115, and in 650 a score of 8286, for a 171 point jump, with a domination limit of 4410. In Kuningas's game he had a score of 6962 in 640, and a score of 7151 in 650, for a 189 point jump, with a domination limit of 4508 (I've used CrP Viewer to determine this, and added one from the number he has after he has 65.99% of the territory). Moonsinger's 88k game had a score of 7212 in 640, and a score of 7461 in 650, for a 249 point jump with a domination limit of 4562. In terms of territory, I've gotten ahead of Moonsinger's 81k, I've basically pulled even with Kuningas's game, and still trail Moonsinger's 88k game. Unfortunately, I have no idea what sort of tech situation they had.

The privateer bug, where you keep a privateer in an otherwise empty city and an AI frigate comes and bombs the ship.

Thanks, I'll have to keep that in mind!

I haven't really used multiple tribes for war happiness. I've thought about it, but it comes as tricky, as any tribe who I don't want war with any tribe that I have to land on, until I've already landed my units. On top of this, some of this can solved by the luxury slider. Any citizens that aren't happy or content, I try to change into settlers or workers, and soon will change into civil engineers.

Edit: Thinking more on this, I think I will definitely leave multiple tribes around for war happiness. This definitely seems better when I think about it. I think I can even use the Iroquois for this without having their prison hit size 3, so long as I crater out at least 19 of their possible tundra tiles.

I do have to say that you've provided me with some extremely useful tips here and elsewhere Lord Emsowrth. Thank you very much!

This is a spooky little tease!

Maybe there was an island there once... but it spookily vanished one day... mwhahahaha

The lost continent of Civlantis sunk, but not as deeply as the surrounding sea floor.

I have watched the AI plant those cities and it breaks my heart every time.

The AI (Korea?) must learn the error of their ways. The cities are a heresy against Civilization, and must be destroyed. And, of course, you can take a few more while you at it, just to make sure they've learned their lesson. :mischief:

Does anyone know why food bonuses don't apply to city squares while shields and commerce do? It just seems so arbitrary.

Sadistic and pernicious game developers upset with the brutal repression they endure at their workplace and taking it out on the hapless customers who use their product. ;)

Yet another inexplicable backwards step they took from Alpha Centauri...:crazyeye:

@Chox: Yes, Korea is committing mass cow-icide, but I have to go through the Romans and Inca to get to them. However, as they say: "Many cavs make light work".

@eldar: For some reason I thought the date said Nov. 12.:crazyeye:

And, as if this thread didn't have enough pictures:

I guess those whales don't want to be worked.

Or those.

Not these either. :badcomp:

They would be better in white.

Maybe they were thinking that, in the modern age, even if its location is really super for food resources, cities don't tend to have much food grown in them. Although it doesn't really work in the Ancient or Middle Ages, so it may well have been an odd oversight.

Quint, no, I think that if food bonuses applied to a city center, it would allow for a really rapid growth, such as if you were to have a pop 1 city with a clown, it would still grow. It's more for balancing than anything.

Edit: Happy 3500 posts! :band::bday:[party]
