Internet Explorer nonsense.

I've recently been suffering from problems relating to an unusual blank script error box, which I get when I start up my computer and when I start up certain games. I've supplied an example here.

I can't close out of these boxes unless I use CTRL+ALT+DEL. This is beginning to be a nuisance, and I'm considering deleting IE off of my computer. Is this a possibility, and will it fix the problem?

No, that's basically impossible. That looks like an old version though, you should probably run windows update and install everything.

I reluctantly run a Vista and I believe my current IE version is 8, as I haven't updated it since Firefox became my default browser.

Well, like I said, run Windows Update and install all the updates.

You could also go to IE8 -> Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced tab and uncheck the box "Display a notification about every script error", but it is worth running the Windows/IE updates and see if that fixes it first.

This isn't a Vista related problem.

Your suggestion is not realistic.

Vista is a much better operating system than XP.

This isn't a Vista related problem.

With IE and Windows becoming increasingly integrated, there's no guarantee of that... also, wiping the hard drive would wpe out all errors, Vista-related or not. It's the only way to be sure.

Vista is a much better operating system than XP.

Updating didn't really help, unfortunately.

Thanks for all the help, but as the error is only making a few games impossible to play, I think I'm just going to stomach it until I get a new PC.

Usually I wouldn't answer just out of aversion for Steam , but what the hell... try resetting IE to its default configuration and making sure that all add-ons are disabled. IN internet options->advanced there's a reset option which usually helps with odd errors.

Weird.. Yeah, you should update explorer.

Try uninstalling IE, rebooting the computer, then download a fresh installer from Windows update.

I've had similar problems in the past, maybe from installing free toolbars and the like.
