What I mean with I&B2-style is more depth and RP. Honestly, I think that post-Napoleonic/early-Industrial eras are a bit too... too something.

Or more likely, one on another planet so we can forge the histories ourselves.

Considering that my life is in ruins right now, it will probably happen sometime soon.
I choose early-Industrial era for I&B games for a reason: it's the earliest era where technology and culture has developed enough to be recognisably "modern".

A very reasonable stance. What I mean is that, honestly, and as Sonereal said, one can only start in the early 19th century a number of times. I haven't reached that number yet, though.

I prefer generic eras rather than history-based games. Industrial, Classical, etc. are all fun time periods, but I don't like things being constrained by such. Creativity is something I hate restricting, never mind historical IOTs can run into issues if players are don't know much about the time period or particular events in it.
Fortunately they can always run into my games if they don't want too much historical influence...

Creativity is sparked by restriction, in my experience. If you gimme to much freedom I won't be able to do crap.

But I want fanfiction chop suey! The ability to make your WMD run of the mill nukes or a sound that makes people go crazy! Wizards who manipulate elements with but a gesture and psychics who manipulate others' bodies like paper! Furries, aliens, ponies, I want it all!
There's a reason I don't play in many IOTs, because a lot of them have that "human nations only" rule. So. No, just no.
Really I've come to the conclusion I should just forget all about Earth and make my own worlds from now on so I don't need to hear as much about realism. So, Space IOT it is!
