IOT Developmental Thread

Well, war from turn one would be rather hard, considering that both of would only have one province, and one province doesn't lend itself to much of an army :)

well you know what he will do. he will declare war on me for stupid reasons. or no reason.

Discuss it with him and stop spamming this thread.

Please.

Powergaming. That's always a reason ;)

Anyways, I raise the point again that the Sargasso and the North Atlantic has no border at all, and just kinda bleeds into each other.

I also again raise the point that I'm willing to use my copy of AoEIII or RoN for battle simulations, and, in fact, willing to take up the role as battle master. Perhaps we can vote on all three things (And its not an either-or for the games, I can use both or neither, depends on what you guys (and gals) want).

EDIT: Thanks Joe. That's very kind of you.

Why aren't we using the Vicky map?

Actually, I think that might be better. I'll have to redraw some of the borders in Asia and maybe Africa though, because they fail.

@Omega: I think RoN is better (I have a copy of both of them too, by the way), though I still think stats-based combat of some sort is the best option.

Can we keep power-gaming completely out of this thread, including in insults/statements? Thanks.

I finally got around to counting the votes for my idea of having the Americas locked until a specific date. It was 4 definate yes's, 4 definate no's and one proposed compromise by Zelet that I personally liked. He suggested letting people start as natives, but giving them slowed expansion, then letting them grow normally once it is unlocked to Europeans. Joe can take that vote and do what ever he wants to with it.

I obviously vote yes :p. And another thing to add is, the natives can't leave the America's until the Europeans come, as that is more fair.

I'll vote for that, certainly.

I would like to suggest that the countries have to be and act like natives. Someone can't just say "OMG, alternative time line. Rome reached the new world and set up a colony in America and I'm the Roman United States now, so USA#1, so get pwned n00bs" That would seriously ruin the game for me.

Should we have cut ties between the two worlds before 1492? I know we'd still have it all in the same thread, but it's unrealistic to have the Natives signing defensive pacts or starting wars or trade before then.

Yeah I was thinking that as well. Euros and Natives should not be able to communicate before the Euros arrive.
And I'm going to try to be as historical as I can (I'm aiming for France) So I'd colonize Louisiana Territory, Quebec, etc.

EDIT: Thanks Joe. That's very kind of you.

No problem.

Here's a suggestion: Joecoolyo, please ban Mathalamus and Omega if they make one more post without thread-relevant content.

It'd be my pleasure :D

As for all this native nonsense, I propose the following:

No NPC's
. They clutter up the map, and make the GM's job all that more inconvenient. It also takes away from one of the IOT ideas that I liked, the idea of a fully player created world. No A.I.'s, every country is an actual, living person, that can actually judge situations and fend for themselves.

I reluctantly endorse this message.
