IOT Enlightenment 2: Philosophers and Kings

Oh, he can only join if he wants to be a completely separate nation, with a separate color and a separate income and separate forces.

Which means he'll have no troops this turn, because the Iron Islands is already using the IP from Yunnan, China and Manchuria. He has also no spies to protect him, and will have to start from scratch on everything, including an independent foreign policy.

I am changing my orders, since the turn has not locked. I am also gifting units and changing my defensive plans accordingly.

We can discuss the terms of China's surrender if your several maps and war orders are suddenly thrown into a loop.

By the way, I shall not surrender. If you want China, you will have to come and take it. And I assure you that it will not be easy.

Allow me to toss a whimsical note in here.

I won't forbid people from "Powergaming" "Gaming the system" or any other term you want to use. It would be pointless, as the terms are definitional anyway. But anyone who is "Gaming the system" by MY definition will suffer SEVERELY increased odds of negative events, as well as other penalties.

Tread carefully if you even think you're approaching the line.

I said the same thing to myself when I invaded China. I said, 'there is no way it can be this easy". I was wrong then.

The Chinese Empire calls all Nations to not recognize the illegal Government of the Iron Occupied China and embargo it. They are just puppets of the Irons. We are the legimate Government of all China.

The only legitimate government of China is the one that can trade, isn't it?

No. The legimate China is the one who express the will of the Chinese people. The Iron China is an illegal government created after a foreign invasion and occupation.

The year is 1772, not 1972. The people only care that the harvest comes in, their children are fed and clothe, and that they are happy. They don't usually care who is ruling over them if those three demands are satisfied.

How can Imperial China do that if they can't trade with the outside world and are conscripting every man, woman, and child to carry out a lost war?

Our scholars of Chinese history inform us that the rulership of China is traditionally determined by the passing of the Mandate of Heaven since the rise of the Zhou dynasty as detailed by Sima Qian in his seminal Records of the Grand Historian. As it is not our policy to interfere with the mechanisms of transfer of power within a foreign nation we recognise that under this tradition the Mandate has been passed to the regime which shall be referred to as Iron China until a dynastical name is revealed to the international community.
In that spirit we ask if the new regime is prepared to honour the trade agreements made between the Celtic Union and China under the previous dynasty.

We cut relationship with the Celtic Union for recognizing an illegal Government.

OOC: I had stepped away from the computer a bit to straighten up my room and get ready for a class and then I thought "Mandate of Heaven". So, rush back to the computer, and see I was ninja'd hard.

The Ta dynasty have not issued objections to our agreements so as far as we are concerned our relationship with China continues.
(OOC: Nedim, please confirm if you wish trade with the Celtic Union)
Edit: The BBC have been running a series on Chinese historical figures which I've been following with interest I never expected, it seemed the perfect time to bring it up.

Darn. Now I gotta split up my empire and power game too!
Why, by using Soneral's trick, I could triple my trade income.

Just think, three independent territory/countries controlled by one player.

The Qianlong Emperor rides with his horse in front of the Soldiers. Those Soldiers fought in Mongolia and Sinkiang. Those Armies crushed the enemies of the Empire and were successful. But this time, it was different. The Iron Islands had betrayed him, a new Dynasty was proclaimed in Beijing while he was fighting the Barbarians in Sinkiang to secure the protection and prosperity of the Chinese people. His Empire, his throne, his wife, everything he had were lost. The Celtic Union betrayed him, and he knew that soon and the other Western Powers would betray him. However, he still had his Army. A victorious army that crushed the Mongol and Turkic barbarians in two epic campaigns with only 2,000 men lost. He still had his advisors, his friends, his horse and his tactical genious. As his father had said ''The smarter, not the stronger, wins in the end''. He had to say something to the troops. He had to encourage them. So he said:

''Men of China! My soldiers! My friends! Thanks to you, we won in Mongolia and Sinkiang. But now we face a strong Army. We are outnumbered. Both in terms of soldiers and money. However, we outnumber them in terms of men, of real men, and bravery. The Soldiers of the Iron Islands are imperialistic slaves who fight because their Government said so. We are free men who fight for our survival.

It is our duty to protect our country, our throne, our national pride and our honor from the Iron Barbarians. The illegal government in Beijing is an Iron puppet. They are not governing China. They are occupying it. I call you to make our final stand here. I call you to fight to retake what it has been taken by us.

However, I know that this campaign is a suicide So I advise everyone to think well before you come with me. Also, if everyone wants to leave, you are free to do so. I promise that I shall not punish you.''

A Soldier named Chiang Hon-hine then said:

''How could we leave you to fight this war alone? You are our leader. You led us to Great victories. You command the Army yourself, and put yourself in the same dangers as we, the normal soldiers, do. You do not sit in Beijing and just give order. You care about us. You always talk us like friend and like a father figure. I will follow you, my Emperor, even if all other Soldiers leave.''

Those words inspired the Army, and all soldiers shouted like one voice:

''We will come with you, our Emperor!! Long live Emperor Qianlong!! Long live Emperor Qianlong!!! Long live Emperor Qianlong!! Long live Emperor Qianlong!!''

Lighthearter, I can only say that I do not like dirty tricks like the one ''I split my Empire, give it to an other player who will be my puppet and use my plans, double my trade income and have him to have the land battle bonus while I have the sea battle bonus!''.

Anyway, I will continue to play the game as fair as I can with no dirty tricks like that, and if I lose it will not be because I did not send good orders or because Soneral is great strategist, but because Nedim and Soneral are abusing the game mechanics.
