Iron and Blood - Game Thread

The SRO gives an ultimatum to Spain:

Negotiate peace with Britain within the next two turns, or we will bring war upon your nation.

To zack- The bolded part implies that one side or the other inserts terms into the peace. A white peace requires no negotiating, its as simple as asking for a white peace and getting an answer. Negotiating would imply that one nation or another would get to impose Terms upon the other, which is exactly what I did.

I believe he wrote that before you demanded stuff for 20 turns.

"What? You're declaring war on me because I provoked you? Even though you actually haven't done any damage to my economy I am going to ask for a bazillion dollars in reparations! Ha ha! Take that, you uncouth knave!"

North Africa has always been considered to be on the Mediterranean before being Africa. Are you saying Ethiopia and South Africa are ALSO on the Mediterranean?

How the hell did I provoke Spain? We had an agreement that whoever took Mahgreb first would get to claim it as their own, and the other would get Sahel as an african claim. Ask Swaziland, the horn of africa, or sairorse (did I spell that correctly? if not, I apologize sincerely). And me and my allies are already spending IC on the war, soon tons of armies will have to supplied, navies manned, guns provided with ammo. War does not come cheap. They brought this monstrosity called war down upon us, and now they will have to reimburse us for it. If it take a little blood to show them the error of their ways, so be it. What choice do we have?

Um...I will take you word on that. I never said all of africa was on the med. But just because North Africa borders the Meditteranean Sea doesnt mean that its not part of africa.

The stuff CAN be negotiated. But the 20 turns is to make sure that they do not attack us unprepared again, not anyone else. The 10 turns is actually a gift, allowing him to be protected by NATO while building up industries and science and culture without having to supply a massive military.

20 turns is an utterly ridiculous amount of RL time.

I typed this stuff up within 5 minutes! Obviously I didnt realize just how long 20 turns does end up to be. Now that i think about it, I think that would push us into the 19th century with 4 years a turn, yeah perhaps that stuff will be reduced to 10, and the 10's can be pushed down to 7's. That seems much fairer. it could probably be squeezed down 1-2 more turns, but only if Spain accepts right now without any bloodshed.

You came off pretty arrogant there. I'd honestly be surprised if he accepted any treaty at all.

Uhh...we're already in the 19th century...:p

Whoops meant 20th.

He also came off arrogant to me when he betrayed our agreement reguarding Mahgreb. I was a fair bit pissed about this whole war.

...You do realize that Spain just attacked an AFRICAN TERRITORY that Britain had recently convinced to join their nation? Right? Alot of the fighting in the first phase of this war is actually bound to take place in North Africa. I apologize for this warfare coming to Africa, but Britain will do its best to stop the aggressor and eject him from africa as soon as possible.

Yeah... what's you're point? After you guys weaken each other, I can storm in. :p

I think that the best solution to ending this war would be to have peace talks, not arrogant demands for tribute and retribution.

But of course, many of us, including me, don't want it to end so...:p

Horn of Africa- As part of the African Union, i do believe you agreed to the claims map of Africa. I believe you were joking, but if you werent, I would take that betrayal to heart, and would hope that the other african nations would at least stay neutral, if not join me in my defense.

Considering this amount of antagonism going around is not good for the global economy, people, or anything for that matter, The Grand Kingdom of Xi'an, being entirely neutral and far removed from the theater of war would gladly accept the position of being a peace arbiter between Britain and Spain. We can act as an intermediate in between the two nations, helping work out a fair peace treaty that will suit both country's wants and needs.

Britain and Spain, are you really looking for peace, or am I wasting breath here?

I'm jocoserious.

If, at the very least, Spain is willing to cede claims to portugal and the Sahel, and to give back anything they take from Mahgreb this turn, i think we can start from there. Should they propose anything less, we will not accept it. Of course, if the war extends beyond this turn, i will re-introduce the IC tribute concept in order to help pay for all the IC going into the war. I would also like a treaty of peace between our nations for the next 5 turns at the very least.

If Spain is not willing to agree to even the most basic terms I laid out in the beginning of this post, then I suggest you do not waste your breath, King of Xi'an.

Well, no need to make terms yet, that will just further derail the peace process, we'll sort all that stuff out later.

But, before this can start, we need Spain to agree to this proposal.

Spain, you wanna go through with this?

That's EXACTLY what I was talking about.

If this goes through, I wish for Spain to refrain from invading Mahgreb for as long as this peace process lasts. Terms may have to come later, but I do not want my territory being invaded while we talk of peace.

That's EXACTLY what I was talking about.

Maybe Siam should stay out of European affairs. I have observed that you have a tendency to stick your nose where it doesnt belong.

Well, of course, if we are to go through with this, any invasion plans as of now will need to be cancelled. Otherwise we can't really talk peace.

EDIT: x-post, referring to previous post
