Iron Works

I came very close to being able to build it one game. I captured an enemy city which had iron in it's radius, after I captured it I noticed it had coal just outside  . I thought I might be able to move it by building a settler/worker but it was just waiting for the size to increase. Had I known before hand I would've razed it.

)Oh.. that sucks... ya Firaxis has made it REALLY hard to build Iron Works... but if you can build it... its one of the best things in the game. Imagine... a city with over 200 production!!!!!!!! (ICBM frenzy... here we come:nuke: :nuke: :nuke:

I think it's good Iron Works doesn't happen very often. I wish there were more improvements (and also wonders, disasters, units etc) that are only available infrequently in games, either because of circumstance or pure luck. It adds variety ..... also helps keep the game from getting boring the 100th time around.

Once i was lucky enough to get iron works in my capital!! After that it was the most productive city in the whole game. Got all the wonders in that city too.

how about this.... an asteroid falls into one of your cities, kills half the population but suddenly, admists the rubble you find some rare metal that doubles the amor protection on you tanks and ships and makes them faster... little good - little bad

hmmmmmmmmmmm somewhat weird :mutant: ... but doable. i wonder if firaxis ever thought about natural disasters....:crazyeye:

If you set the food surplus to 0 or negative while finishing a worker/settler, you get asked if you want to disband the city.

I've been playing since November and never had a chance to build Iron Works.

Taught my girlfriend how to play about a month ago. Her second game she asks me if she should build "this Iron Works thing" or not.

The frustration when your tank attacks and loses to a knight doesn't even come close to this...

Well no one said life was fair. :D

Got my first chance to build Iron Works.
In a city that I had captured.

It had a production of one shield!!!!

So even if I could build it, the production would be a massive two shields!!!
