cause i just bought civ 4 because i read that civ 4 can be played with mouse only since its turn based. (im not a very good typer) im not gonna open my civ 4dvd till its confirmed that at least civ 4 will be mouseable.

Actually it should be more since you can't use the keypad for movement anymore (6 directions). And where did you get your info, most games use the mouse more than the keyboard?

It has been confirmed by...Greg i think, that you in 5 still can use the keyboard to move your units.

And yes, from my Gamescom experience i can say, you can do nearly everything with only the mouse.

im very new i must admit. i don't know anything about this hobby. i d like to though. so when you say, "And where did you get your info, most games use the mouse more than the keyboard?" are you basically saying, (of course its going to be mouseable, because all turn based games are? or that, (all strategy games are, which im pretty sure there not.) btw, i just bought civ 4 complete today from best buy. should i return it, and buy a dl version? i heard civ 5 wont be available in a box? and only available through steam?

Is it? Thanks, didn't know that, good news for me (I like using keyboard much better)

Almost every game out there is completely "mouseable." You could, if you wanted to, play Starcraft 2 entirely with the mouse--but since using the mouse is typically much slower than using the keyboard, you'd get crushed badly. I suppose FPS games require you to use WASD to move . . . but that's about it.

Anyways, Civilization IV had a bunch of keyboard shortcuts, but they're unnecessary since it's a turn based game and you can take as long as you want to mouse over and click things, so yes, you can play entirely with the mouse. I'd imagine the same will be true with Civ V.

I can't think of a game where you don't use the mouse, but then again, I don't have too much experience...

you definitely would get crushed.

thats good news man:)

is it true civ5 wont be available in stores and a steam dl only? if so maybe i should consider the steamdl and return the dvd to bestbuy? my civ has no drm though. not that it really matters with steam. steam is what it is.

Any game ported to the iPhone or iPad like Civ Rev. That is a total touch experience which IMHO is the best way to play.

It may be possible to play Civ5 on the iPad using VNC. Well see Sept 21, 2010.

many games cant be played with just a mouse. like fps, action, platformer, racing, and only a few games can be played with mouse 'ONLY' like adventure games, puzzle games, hidden object, and turn based strategy games. i think your thinking, mouse and keyboard too no, im talking about mouse only. im 30 years old, and never learned to type. so for me, many pc games aren't playable. i have no problem with that since fps, action games and such i don't like anyway.

these boards are VERY active. im surprised. do you think i should keep my civ4dvd. or was it a dumb buy seeing how civ 5 is around the corner and steam only? i just found out today that civ 5 is coming out. as i type on this forum.

No civ 4 is still a good game, Many people won't switch at all/for a few months (like me)
Yes this forum is very active, due to civ 5.
Many (most?) games are completly "mousable", no keyboarding requried.
If you don't know how to type, how are posting? :crazyeye:
Also, welcome to forums Advance!

is it because civ4 has lots of mods already made? and v4 mods cant be opened in v5? or why/ nono, lol i can type with two index fingers. i cant qwerty type.

The fact that civ 5 will most likely be "buggy", (civ 4 mods *should* be compatible with civ 5)
And its not known how well civ 5 will work out, it looks fine, but who knows?
Ah, you "peck" at the keys

i do:lol: i know all i need to know now. gonna install this stuff:)

While many games require you to use the keyboard (or a gamepad), very few games actually require you to type any text, except for savegame names maybe. The only games I can remember where you had to write text are some very old text adventures, and even there usually a word or two were quite sufficient. So don't worry, you can play any game you think you might like without having to learn to type with all your fingers.

Wauit, so rathetr than palying civ 4, to find out you come on the forums instead, how bizarre.

What do you want a free hand for? Thriving civilizations turn you on? You perv...:nope:

I'm completely opposite. My mouse wrist is FUBAR, if there aren't keyboard shortcuts I'm through.
