Hello guys

Im very new to civilization games i saw a video about civ5 i really liked it so i bought civ6 x) (it was already out and i thought 6 must be better than 5 in every way xP)

So as i never even heared anything about the other ones im really interested in how good do u think is civ6 vs civ5 vs any other civ game?

So far i really liked civ6 but i only played it for like 30-50 minutes and with no experience in even turn based strategy games (lots of experience in starcraft thou xD)

This is a very divisive question. My own opinion is that Civ 5 is probably still a bit better than Civ 6, but with more expansions and balancing Civ 6 will edge it out. Civ 4 is excellent also, but not as good as 5 or 6 to me, though there are some who consider 4 the best.

If this is your first Civ game I wouldn't worry too much about whether this one is the best. Civ 6 has plenty for new players to master, and you will probably enjoy mastering it.

By my experience from playing pc games for over 20 years. Civ 4 is the best game ever made till today. And thus the best civilization game.
I never could get into civ 5 as it never surpassed civ 4. Did play civ 5 for about 800 hours which is kind of low for a civ game but i tried. I kept going back to civ 4. Civ 5 with mods could not surpass civ 4 with mods.
I already find civ 6 very enjoyable at the present with only the quick UI mod + moar unit mods. Even better with Ananse if it does not kill your save games more then once per 2 weeks.
If you are in doubt. You could not go wrong with civ 4/5 for a bargain price at sales (steam).
Civ 4/5 and 6 each excel at different erea`s. So your personal taste for best civ game could be different then mine. I find civ 5 to be the best at graphics even do it does not count as the best civ in my experience. Each have their ups and downs.

You have to make your own mind up, you will find the perference will depend on who answers. Each game is different and attracts different preferences.

Civ 6 is still being developed and new things released, the chat rooms are busier and you can always find new things out no-one knows.
There is nothing wrong with playing older games, they are more well developed, they just tend to be uglier.

You can't compare Civ VI to other Civ games before it due to it not being complete yet, ie no expansions. Though Civ VI Vanilla >>>>>Civ V Vanilla.

(Only ever played Civ IV complete, picked it up mid 2009)

Civilization IV is the richest and most complex of the Civ games (with the toughest AI to beat and the highest difficulty curve), and the best diplomacy system (and not just because you can trade bananas and other resources that are now untradeable in V and VI). Also has the best main menu theme in Baba Yetu (vanilla Civilization IV theme). Also has stacks of doom (you can stack many units in one tile and move them all together as part of one army). Features Diplomatic victory which requires (in some cases) for the AI to vote for you, random events (in Beyond the Sword expansion). Excellent modability, which made for very fun mods ranging from fantasy (Fall of Haven) to sci fi to tactical zombie killing combat scenario (in the Beyond the Sword expansion).

Civilization V boasts a decent user interface and realistic graphics, less demanding learning curve, with the best leader screens, and excellent peace/war music for each civilization based upon famous national songs. Has carpets of doom, or 1 unit per turn, requiring you to undergo the tedium of manually clicking every single *freaking* unit to move them to the enemy (since you can't stack them). Terrible modability.

Civilization VI boasts a colorful graphic style, a day-night cycle, and complex civilization/leader abilities, though with less immersive leader screens than in V and a weaker diplomacy system than in IV, though with significant mechanics borrowed from V (like the 1 unit per tile), and some changes (siege mechanics, religious victory, etc). Terrible modability.

I'd say that 6 is already better than 5; but will take some more work to get better than 4. It certainly has the potential.

Civ 4 was the best because it had a complete game and decent graphics (which lasted for a while). But the graphics are like 17 years old now, so its pretty dated. I have been playing since civ2, and each one has its pros and cons. But I skipped over 5 and I am not thrilled about 6. I am waiting for the mods and expansions to make this better, for now I dont play much.

The Civ 6 UI is quite poor. Even when compared to the unmodded Civ 4 UI.

The Civ 6 AI sucked upon release, which sapped a lot of the potential for enjoyment out of the game. I can't speak as for how it compares now (the above UI problem is dissuading me from giving it a try)

Civ 3 is and always will be the pinnacle of Civ. Back when the devs understood what gamers really wanted out of the series. To be the premier palace decorating simulator. This was of course before they were bought out by the Illuminati who don't want us to have nice things.

Civ6 is already the best by far. The others are like playing tic-tac-toe on a 2 x 2 grid.
Ynamp makes it light years ahead of the others.

The worst thing about civ5 is the awful coding. I'm not sure why but the turn times are just too long and the Art Deco UI is ugly as heck. Otherwise civ5 is okay.

Civ6 is way better at release and the AI is continuing to improve every patch. If Firaxis can keep 2K greedy people at bay and let them work then civ6 will easily become the best game ever.

The only fair way to compare this is base game to base game. Civ 6 base game vs Civ 5 base? Not even close, Civ 6 by a country mile. Civ 6 base game vs Civ 4? Even there - and considering Civ 4 is my favourite Civ - Civ 6 wins.

With all the expansions Civ 4 is better, IMO, but depending where Civ 6 goes, I think it will inevitably be the best.
