Is iron location random or does computer hose you at higher difficulty

I agree with others that the game screams for a global market. Very often, I do not start anywhere near iron or even horses, forcing me to rely even more on archery units than I already do.

I really don't have a problem with the system. It's just strange that I NEVER have iron. Just started a new one on Deity and there was nothing without fighting through 2 distant Peter cities first. I'm thinking it has to be more than coincidence. If I get one even reasonably close, I'll be able to dispel the notion, but until then....

Seriously, the map scripts don't know what difficulty you're playing on. Not at all.

Civs like Hungary, Egypt, Netherlands rarely have it due to location, do you play Greek or Incan?
