Youtube nasheeds are indeed beautiful :)

I agree. Hauntingly beautiful. But there's also something disturbing in them. Something disturbing about the certainties being expressed, I guess.

You missed the bus on them though

You mean Mr Angst is late to the party?

I don't see how he could be. There are people who are fans of Elvis, for example, even today. I wouldn't describe them as missing the bus.

Moderator Action: This thread will remain closed. Although the general topic is considered acceptable, the manner in which it has been approached has at times amounted to trolling and offensive content.

The immediately relevant portions of the forum rules are as follows:
You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, racist, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise in violation of any law.
Trolling is posting something with the intent to annoy or to generate a negative reaction from other people. It can be interpreted as anything for which it is reasonably foreseeable (in the moderators' opinion) that someone will react to it. It can be a very grey issue, and moderators will use their discretion and judgment. Examples of things that are generally considered trolling are as follows:
• Extending a negative issue to a wide group of people. For example, if one member of a group, religion, political persuasion or ethnicity does something bad, a post that implies that all members of this group, religion, political persuasion or ethnicity are similar, this is considered trolling.
• Posting a very negative topic or post about a certain group. Eg. "Why are all (race, gender, ethnicity, political affiliation) stupid / fat / boring" etc.
As such, it is important to ensure that it is not reasonably foreseeable that comments which you post will provoke a negative reaction, or cause offence. Therefore, comments such as the following are considered to violate the forum rules:
If the answer is "no", then the solution, the way forward to global understanding and harmony, can only be to eradicate this ideology, as we have managed to do with other divisive ideologies like National Socialism or fascism.
"Why would one want to reform a cult that is created by a psychopath and honor the memory of a monster?" While this is harshly put, the fact stands that Islam was introduced by a narcissistic tyrant who promoted a deeply divisive world view which divides all of humanity into the umma, the superior adherents to Islam, and infidels, who must be converted, killed, or subdued. To achieve his aims, Muhammad authorised the use of violence and deceit, which became legitimate means to combat non-Muslims and to spread Islam.
Muslims generally start to cause problems when their percentage reaches 2-2.5%, when they will start to proselytise, demand halal food etc. The higher their percentage of the total population, the more they will push for religious privileges and the more problematic they will become.
Yes, Indonesians are slightly less deranged by their religious beliefs than Muslims in most other parts of the Islamic world.

In particular, please ensure you do not negatively characterise a wide group of people, and please ensure that your arguments are framed in such a way as to promote civil and productive discussion.
