Have you seen the mega churches and televangelists?

I should have been clearer. Some religions are very profitable. Some are not. The existance of nuns and other religious people who live in poverty should prove the latter.

Not just any religion, though - an awful lot of people have gone broke or worse starting religions.

One wouldn't conclude that a corporation is unprofitable because some of its employees live in poverty, so no, I don't think the existence of nuns and other religious people who live in poverty proves your thesis.

One is for certain , some people live in poverty because they are not greedy and and some people get mega rich because they take advantage of everyone including them.

Speaking from experience: My dad has been a pastor of several churches for many years. It is not a profitable business for most clergymen, and some pastors are the lowest-income of the churches they teach at. My dad teaches at a small rural church, and I can say that his work is not "profitable" financially. But that's not his main concern, and it isn't for many other clergymen. Many serve God regardless of what pay they recieve, and some work for very little at all.
