Is there anyone with NO problems running the game?

With the original version and official patch I've had no problems.

Occacional lag and stutter during the wonder movies but very late in the game on huge map, 18 civ situation. So nothing big to complain but I still want this to go away. It also takes a while to load up some adviser screens like Military and F9 adviser.

No problems here. Last restart was 12 days ago for a printer driver update. I have some connection issues with MP games, most likely cause by the other players seeing poor performance. In late games on any size map I have a slight pause (1-2 seconds) when wonder movies start. Game loads quickly, plays smooth, generates huge maps in no time, loads save games (even modern era) quickly.

I run at 1280x1024, 4xAA everything else on high (or just enabled), EAX4 for the sound.

My PC is a "monster" but it certainly wasn't $3000.

Windows XP 64-bit
P4 3.2GHz (640)
2GB (4x512) DDR2
Games are all installed on a SATA2 Raid 0 volume (6x80GB, peak xfer of almost 6GB/s)
ATI (Saphire) Radeon x850XT PE 256MB PCIe

Home built, no extra garbage installed on it and properly maintained. I see this frequently with games and I would love to figure out what I do/have done differently than so many other people with similar or better systems that are plagued with problems, if I could figure that out I'd be rich :D

I'm running without any problems. The retail version hasn't crashed for me once, Large maps slow down slightly (AI turn time) in the later game, but well within acceptable levels, and my processor is outdated anyhow. I don't have graphical glitches, notable slowdowns or anything such. There's an approximately 1.5 second delay before diplomacy windows load, but it's again quite acceptable given that I don't have a monster PC.

I tried Harkonnen's patch yesterday and I must say It Rocks!!. The performance was very improved, specially when loading saved games. I only had a few slowdowns during huge games, all settings in high, never had a CTD or BSOD before or after the patch. Running on a ZV6000 laptop, Athlon 64 3200+ processor, 512MB RAM (I just upgraded to 1.25MB!), ATI Radeon Xpress 200m 128MB dedicated video RAM, Omega Drivers 6.0.1.4(Very recommended!) and Windows XP Home Edition SP2.

Where do you find this "Harkonnen patch"? I've looked and do not see it anywhere. I'm willing to give it a go, but don't know where to get it.

I have absolutely no problem of any kind.

i run a 2,66Ghz compaq with 504Mb ram and I have the default graphic card that came with the computer (I have no idea what it is)

Before the 1.09 patch, the wonder movies didn't work, but since then, everything is as good as it could be.

I have a 2-year old Dell with a 1-year old ATI top of the line card (back then) and the game runs fine on 'medium' graphics.

I am running a rather old system comparatively speeking and have no problems on Full for all settings except Anti-Aliasing which is turned off completely in the program. I run all map types with no problems now (I upgraded from a Nvidia 5200 card after this game made it stop-and-go during the movies.

Pentium 4 1.6 Processor
CT-9BJA Motherboard, Intel 845 Chip set, 478 Pin, 400 MHZ, 4x AGP
768 Megs of 133 SDRAM
ATI 9550 256 Meg Graphics
Sound Blaster Audigy

It gets a bit sluggish on huge maps in late games.
there are some minor framerate things that I can see (I've better than 20/20 so I might be just picky), but no crashes for me on a 2500+/1GB/6600GT.
Game was more sluggish when I was using a 9000 Pro.
It did BSOD when I accidentally OCed my system while tinkering wth it. But the game also ran faster. It seems like Civ 4 stresses the system out quite a bit, so it will aggrevate any instabilities in the system.

No problemos for me on a Tbird 1.4 with 512 meg ram. The start up movie was jumpy but now it runs fine after the patch.

:D Home made computers rock!

Oh ps 9600 xt sapphire radeon card also and barracuda hard drives.

On the largest maps with lots of enemies the end game does run slightly slower then initially once everything is revealed. But this is only if i have my religion in a lot of enemy towns. Then it shows them and slows the game down a tad, but not much, and not enough to spoil game play. Its hardly noticable even.

I have never had problems with crashes on this computer ever though, but im carefull what i have running ect and never update drivers till the old ones no longer work.

Athlon 3000 XP, 1 GB RAM, Radeon 9800 pro. It slows down in the late game on a huge map with lots of AIs, but no problems running it.

No problems since I installed Civ on my "good" machine - 3GHz Pentium 4, 1GB RAM, Quadro FX 3000.

On my older game machine (1.2GHz Athlon, 512MB RAM, GeForce3 Ti 200) I got all sorts of graphics artifacts, extremely slow performance at the diplomatic screen, and frequent total lockups.

Not one crash since i bought it. Only minor graphical glitches on the first day with the NVidia driver. Since then, I have had a smooth game, with graphics on full (noAA).

P4 3.2
1gig RAM
6600GT

I've had no problems since I installed the game. My system is as follows.

AMD Athlon 2500+
ATI Radeon 9250 vid card 256 MB RAM
1 GB of DDR RAM
80 GB HD
Windows XP Home version

No hangups, hiccups or CTDs.

BUT, I have this silly preference for Civ 3 Conquer the World.

Civ 4 looks nice, but I just get more fun out of Civ 3 for now.

I NEVER has "problems" with Civ4.

Only some performance issues at huge maps.
But that's not "problem", that's normal.
Same was with Civ3 huge maps on my old 333Mhz Celeron, or with Civ2 on old 386.

The only difference is that older civs taxed only processor with pathfining algorithms and AI, while Civ4 also taxes it with graphics.

The futher in game the slower the game.
(more of everything at the map)

Was and will always be issue for ALL Civ games.

EDIT:
Athlon 2600XP, 1GB RAM,
old ATI Radeon 9000 Wonder (64MB),
200GB HDD, WinXP SP2

between my friends and I we have 6 machines that all run it fine, ranging from:
AMD 2000XP
512 cheap RAM
NVidea FX5200

to:
AMD64 3500
1 gig expensive RAM
NVidea 6600GT

I had some problems where the game would lock up and I'd have to reboot at the end of every turn (otherwise guarrantee lock up right before i could save). But then I had the bright idea to reconnect the case fan that I previously scavenged for something else. Now the video card (heatsink no fan) is cool and no lockups so far knock on uncut +0.4 health forest wood.

edit: oh yeah
p4 geforce 4 mx400 1 gb ram runs good

duron 1.8 radeon 9250 256 ram runs like at turtle on it's way to shoe shopping with its turtle wife
