Its weird how this effects some but not others. I can play any 3D game for hours without blinking (I admit I sometimes break for air) but my wife gets sick the moment I turn a character around or scroll up and over at the same time. She can only watch me play for about 5 minutes before leaving.

Maybe that's similar to the difference between driving a car and being a passenger?

The driver/game player knows what's going to happen next (most of the time :) ) and so there are few surprises. The passenger/passive spectator has much less information and so is subjected to unexpected stimulae. In extremes in both cases this can lead to nausea or disorientation.

Actually, there are some first-person shooters that make me dizzy - I have no trouble with Duke Nuk'Em or Spider-Man, but Deus Ex gives me headaches and makes me ill. I figure it's the opposite of motion sickness. If it REALLY looks like I am moving, but I feel like I am not . . . . If anyone has a link to research on this, I'd love to see it!

Oh, I am spending my time on the Honeydo list, Civ3, and Galactic BattleGrounds.
