As i said before, that article is complete crap.
Please note that the "Control Freak" described in the article is NOT exactly what some of you may think.
Usually, we think of a control freak as a person with a very ordinated or predictable life (dunno how to say exactly in english, but i hope to make sense). Someone who needs to be in control of things, regardless of their importance, and live its life in accord to his needs.

Now see how the control freak is described in the article:

The Control Freak may think that only games can bring some much needed order to their lives. If everyone else is calling the shots in the real world, they can rule over every detail in the digital realm.

He/she is seen as someone who goes to the flow, but feel the need of order and since he/she is incapable to have that order in his/her real life, he/she tries to have it at least in videogames.
Like someone who is incapable to have a real girlfriend and compensates his needs with net p0rn or with a rubber doll. In a few words, a loser.

This reminds me of an old article I read on why Disney films are evil and Disney should be boycotted. Originally I thought the article was a humurous response to all those who had overreacted. However over time I discovered that this guy was just off the deep end.

I agree with tricky, rubbish. I play civ and the other games mentioned in the article as pure escapism not control.

I just like to create as well as detroy, nurture as well as kill, and cherish and care for as well a slash and burn - er ... hang on maybe I am a control freak!

Well it appears that based on this article I am a Latent Sociopath in reform. I cut my gaming teeth on games like Doom, DoomII, and Quake (especially Quake multiplayer), but in time migrated to Diablo, Starcraft, Age of Empires, Diablo II, Warcraft III, and now CivIII/Conquests. Apparently the fact that I'm not a natural Control Freak may be the problem with my game play.

Probably you just war with anyone and you aren't able to do alliances and play politics, what turns all your games in a bloodbath, with you succeeding only in low dificulty levels where you can kill everyone else the hard way

According to many of the Civ 4 posters that is probably what we should start calling ourselves. "Micromanagement is a part of Civ and should not be eliminated."

interesting....all the denials of being a control freak...which is ironic (I won't let any one call me a control freak its not true!-- ie trying to even control an outsiders description- ) I think that someone's personal circumstances are not what a pyschiatrist would point to, if one is a free-wheeler on the outside it does not mean that they are actually a free wheeler at all....
There are worst things to be called and worst things to be...i just got a chuckle at the control that control freaks wanted over being called a control freak....

of course you have to micro-manage your governors, too Where would be the fuin of using them otherwise ?

To tell the truth, the description is quite good fitting .. and to tell the truth I am more likely to be a CF than all those other stereotypes descripted in the article
