So, you've hit that point in the game where everything seems to be doing well. Your economy is stable, your research is on schedule, you have enough defenses to hold of all but the most determined enemy. There's only one problem: you're 100 points behind. This is the situation I seem to continually find myself in, now that I've moved up to Prince difficulty. There's no room left to expand, and even though I have a technological superiority, I can't seem to catch up with the other civs. So, what I'd like to know is: how do you catch up in the mid-game?

I've never had this problem of falling behind in the post-expansion phase. When you want hard points, start conquering. This will not only give you more cities, but more resources so your existing ones can grow much bigger.

War, war, war. This is not just the quick answer either. I ran into the same problem a couple of weeks back. Try spotting your weakest neighbor and declare war on them. Take all of their cities and watch as you score shoots upwards.

It is also important to note that a large portion of score comes from population and terrirtory. Adding 3-4 cities will add at least 3-4 hundered points in my estimation. It will also allow you to further expand your lead.

Though you still can win on prince with out war win you make the jump to monarch you must try to take out one opponent at least early on to be able to keep up.

Well, what's already been said is true, but I'd mention that you don't need the highest score to win (unless you're going for a time victory, of course). As the others have stated, score is highly influenced by territory and population, i.e. a big empire. But it's quite possible, at least through Monarch, to have a somewhat smaller but better developed empire that can win a space race over larger rivals, even though its score is lower.

Thanks guys. My war went just fine. I waited until I had Kremlin and started pumping out infantry, when I had about 20, I attacked. Took down nearly all of russia on my own (another human player started attacking them after I did and grabbed their last few cities.) Anyway, that set me up for big growth. At the end of the game, I was in first place. Unfortunately, I still lost, because the third human pulled out a huge cultural victory.

how do you play with humans across many days?
Cannot not do it in Myltiplayer, can you?
