The last two days, I've been spending the day in an army camp, undergoing lot's of different physical and mental tests, as well as doing interviews with officers and shrinks.

After that I was put before a commision, that decided to accept me in Sergeant-school. That's pretty cool. I still have to do four months basic training along with drafties, but after that I'll be given special training, which will also grant me a drivers license and better payment.

All in all, the entire thing will take about two years, then I am Sergeant and will probably be send abroad. Afghanistan seems most likely, as I don't think there will still be Danes in Iraq two years from now.

I will start in february, so I will naturally be unable to come here often from that time onwards. Just wanna say that it's been a real pleasure. There's a lot of very clever people here, as well as a few loons to spice things up. Gonna miss it.

I'm heavily considering going into the Royal navy after leaving school (after A-levels). Doing my mock GCSEs at the minute, so I won't be buckling any swashes just yet though.
Both the naval air corps and general naval officering seem like sound professions, with good prospects and the possibility of in-service tuition.

Dislike the general army and air force though, moral reasons y'see. In the navy I'd be only shooting at poirates.

Hey I have a friend who was in the Dannish army. He was a sergeant too iirc. He told me a few hair raising stories about the time he spent in Bosnia. Hope your time is more peacefull and Good Luck!

Good luck to ya, man, and have a good time!

I was considering joining the army, so I can get paid to get my degree in aeronautical engineering, and then after another few years service leave...

Either that, get a sponsorship... or go it alone :/.

Awesome! Make sure you don't get hit by bullets or bombs!

I've been considering joining the army as well as a pilot. Talked to a recruiter that was nice enough to come to Gresham to meet me and we talked and I asked questions and he answered. When I asked "Now I'm to understand that there's some "conditioning" involved in training" to which he replied "Oh ain't that the truth" and he was very honest in saying that I would absolutely hate the first few weeks of basic. We also talked about what would happen if I 'kicked the bucket' (knock on wood) and was pretty satisfied with those arrangements. And he said that chances are I wouldn't be flying apache's unless I was really good and that it really came down to the needs of the army. It all sounded good but i'd probably be doing that once my job situation deteriorates to breaking point and/or my family is unable to support themselves, which hopefully won't happen as my dad is studying to be a tax preparer and from what I saw on the internet, tax preparers earn a pretty decent amount of wage. Just my little experience.

It's about time you done something useful. (j/K)

Be careful out there, and avoid being blown to your component atoms.

Good luck! But...
You won't be part of the War on Terror, you'll be dispatched to the island of Hans in the Artic ocean. There, a battle-to-death between you and some random canadian soldier will put an end to the dispute over this little frozen island. Bring your tuque!

Good for you!Hope to see you soon...

:salute: I'm sure your Country is Proud :salute:

good luck!

Don't worry about basic. If it is anything like America's, (judging from what countless soldiers have told me) it is about 5,000,000x easier than the popular conception.
