JalNES I: Quick and Easy

To Both
From Briton

This treaty benefits you simply because you will live- make no mistake, neither Rome nor Carthage will reach you before we do if you refuse this generous offer. You gain peace and the right to retain your lives- neither one of you can hold out for long and will fall before Rome can gather an army or before Carthage can get its act together.

Accept this and we will leave. We will not be satisfied- we have spent the last three hundred years fighting you and to come away with nothing? It would be ridicioulous. And Iberia, you may gain the lands specified without any issue- coming near the total you had. Take this deal before we change our minds.

The Roman Delegation has a few points to make. Firstly, why is there a limit of Syracusian territory in Gaul which has nothing to do with the conflict in Iberia. Secondly, why should Tartessos and Iberia pay the exorbitant compensations required of them to Eirehann and Brittania? As their means of income was after all systematically destroyed by your two nations (Unless you're saying they'll get paid and it's a misunderstanding ;))

Thirdly, why the military limits on Tartessos and Iberia considering it will result in them scrapping warships they already posses (Tartessos) and the fact that the limits you impose upon them is insufficient for them to defend their own nation. After all, Rome has lost more soldiers then that fighting for a mere 1/4th of the territory Tartessos posses. In addition, will there be an expiration time for the military limits imposed upon them if agreed? If not, we ask for an expiration date to be established as well as increased quotas.

The Might of the Roman State has been massed and the armies and fleets have already been gathered. It is certainly a shorter distance to Tartessos and Iberia from Rome then Eirehann or Brittania.

OOC: Your alliance is a defensive one :p And since you just attacked them on pretty much a whim...

EDIT: LB, your input would be nice. I do hope/believe you're much more willing to negotiate then darkening :)

Double that for Carthage.

Sryacuse is limited to keep the peace- if you wish you may work out a compromise between your ally and Iberia.

You must realize that, no matter your "masses", we possess the upper hand- our men have been dying for the last 300 years for this war- we will not walk away empty handed. You forget that it was from Iberia and Tartessos that the Eirian colonies on the west coast were destroyed. Their economies will not be destroyed- it will be a one time payment that they can easily afford.

Quite frankly, we want limits on the Tartessians and Iberians because we do not trust them. How are we to be sure they will not regroup, grow stronger, and then incite war once more? No one will challenge their independece with your backing and we will not bother them. And your losses come NOWHERE close to those we have suffered. The deaths of our men shall not go unrewarded. Once we feel that we can trust them we will no longer demand a limit.

You are not all that much stronger than us, I dare to say. No matter the numbers of your armies you cannot defeat us- Rome is far away to even consider raging war in our homes. Rather, the Iberians will continue to suffer for countless centuries if this peace is refused.

To: Briton and Eire
From: Carthage

Thou foul breathe ought be kept in ye mouth!

We do not believe for a second a word you say. Our armies still march. Our navies still sail. No amount of sly wordign and unfair treaties can stop us now. For you see, the Carthginians are blood hungry. You have wronged the hard working people who mined that Iron. The brothers of soldiers. The people want blood, and your blood is the flavor of choice.

(messenger falls on floor, rolling and laughing)

That was the peoples reply to your treaty. :)

Your soldiers have been dying needlessly and aimlessly for the last three centuries. How was it Tartessos and Iberia's fault that Eirehann's colonies in Iberia was destroyed? Because Eirehann emptied those colonies of soldiers to invade Tartessos? Eirehann and Briton are the ones who cannot be trusted, foul aggressors of all peoples.

Even if the Iberians are to suffer it will be upon your souls, though it's highly debatable whether you have any.

FROM: Eirehann
TO: Britannia, Rome, Tartessos

Eirehann will be willing to waive her rights to Tartessian indemnities if Tartessos agrees to purchase the land ceded by Eirehann as per the map of the First Treaty of Caer Troia for two EPs. The land includes the very useful fortified port of Fort Eire. This is more land than Tartessos had to begin with and saves face for Tartessos.

As for the limits, we support the limits although we would accept a release from these limits after a period of 400 years, equal to the time of our peace treaty. We would also ask that Rome put pressure on Carthage to cease their madness, as we have come to realize that you are correct, peaceful trade brings more prosperity than war. We are doing our part towards that end, we ask that your diplomatic corps do the same.

We urge that this treaty be considered.

To: Eire
From: Carthage

You call us mad for acting against your misdoings to us? I call you mad for betraying Carthage. Tartessos should not have to re buy lands from you that you gained in conquest. Leave now and pay for the iron. Or our military action against you will still be carried out.

From: Tartessos
To: Eirehann, Briton

We might, perhaps, be willing to pay one point for that land. But any future transaction has nothing to do with the war between us. We will not pay for our lands.

From: Iberia
To: Briton

Yes, those lands may be substantial, but they are not our lands. Would you settle for France if your people had been kicked out of Britain? We think not. You are asking us to do the same.

See! And in those salt mines with a bunch of other slaves in low spirits who are willing to accept any form of religion with salvation and preaches against their slavers.
Preaching can be very difficult when you don't have your tongue ;)

To Iberia
From Briton

In the name of peace, we will waive all indeminities that would be paid in exchange for this deal. We have not kicked you out of your "Britain"- the lands we have taken exclude your capital and shall be repopulated by your fellow Iberians, not us. The land will not remain under our rule- we will trasnfer it to a new government to prevent any future wars between our two peoples. Accept the deal and no more lives need be ended.

To Carthage
From Briton

You come close to blowing this entire pece treaty away with your nonsense. You, for the countless insults you have lobbed at our nations, will recieve nothing. Take your madness and sit on it before you alienate all potential allies.

To Rome
From Briton

It is amazing that you have managed to make it anywhere in this world with the mass of idiots you call a "senate" ruling over you. Your insults fall on deaf ears and we care not your opinons. You see, unlike you, we fight for the honor of fighting- those who have paid the greatest price must be realized. How long will your people be willing to fight for others that you have no real alliance with? How long will they suffer the masses of dead being shipped back to Rome?

Our people, unlike your's, are united behind us. Too many lives have been lost to walk away with nothing and thousands more will ifght and die before this happens. We have came far from our origional deal- now it is their turn to give a little.

From: Iberia
To: Brition

We are making progress. We ask, however, why you attempt to limit our army if there will be a NAP between us? Why would you limit our army unless you planned to break the deal and conquer us?

Also, we propose this slightly different arrangement of territory, in which we get all land south of the river, to give each side a defensible border and thus reduce the odds of war. We care not what you do with the land to the north: rule it yourself or establish another government as you choose.

As we agreed with Eirehann, limits would expire after four periods. We do this simply because we don't trust you. Surely if you had no plans of war then you will not mind this. As we said, you have our word (unlike others' who can not be trusted) on this issue.

We will agree to your request- through you must adbide by the proposed limits of expansion if you wish to keep peace in the future.

We will agree to limits on our army for four turns, but not on our navy. If you break our agreement, we need to be able to fight back.

How does navy have anything to do with it? if you have noticed, our naval forces ahven't even came near you. As long as you don't have ships based near our seas, we won't mind.

Then it is agreed. You will withdraw across the river, we will sign a 4 turn NAP, and we will limit ourselves to 5000 troops for the duration of the NAP. Please confirm your agreement.

Confirmed.

To Eirehann
From Rome

We assure the Eirehannese(?) diplomat that Rome shall do her best to contain her good friend Carthage. However, the Roman Senate and People as implied by your Briton colleague as being all raving mad lunatics, we fear we cannot guarantee anything ;) We would like to also inquire whether Eirehann has considered Tartessos's counteroffer of 1 EP for their future territory?

To Iberia and Briton
From Rome

We are happy to see that you have ended the bloodshed with a compromise and a fair peace for both parties.

FROM: Eirehann
TO: Rome, Tartessos

We have decided the price of 2 EP stands for the land. However, we will invest 1 EP in the reconstruction of Tartessos as a gesture of friendship and reconciliation, effectively lowering the price to that which was agreed upon. The possibility of future aid is also a possibility, in the interests of peace and mutual prosperity. Is this acceptable to all parties?

To Eirehann and Tartessos
From Rome

The price of 1 EP for Tartessos for the land agreements is agreeable in our opinion.

OOC: I think they're trying to send you a vibe that Tartessos will pay you 1 EP, but not for their land you occupy, but for the "future land." A way to save face with their population ;) And smooth move on the reconstruction offer thing :)
