Janet Jacksons Boob: On Purpose?

It wouldn't bother me, if people my age and older saw it, but you have to think about the young ones watching.

How would it hurt them in any way?

Thinking of it: Young people watching a boob.
They will see a boob, won't they? And then? they seea boob, that's all!
Come on Zarn, I have been seeing naked boobs all my life (especially on beaches). It didn't turn me into a criminal, lunatic or whatever weird person.
Where the hell do people get the idea nudity is bad for kids?

Edit: As for the Puritan thing, never call a Catholic Puritan. They are rebels even to the rebels of the Church.
I was thinking 'puritan' was a regular adjective that can be used for any type of 'conservative'.

They shouldn't be exposed that early. It is not right that a 7 year old should be thinking about women's body parts. I have met kids exposed early. They act like demons touching women, if they can. They are kids and wouldn't know any better.

I think I know one of the resaons why these terrorists hate us so much...

It would warp them for life, they should be seein' a good
olde fashioned gun fight, or vampires rippin' out thoarts,
or real cool guys stealin' cars and driving at 2000 mph
though downtown city intersections.

it's about values and apple pie.

Half-time show is not the place for these stupid acts. Obviously just a publicity stunt that was very effective. I'm guessing most people that see no problem with this are young and don't have any kids. I'm 31 and have 3 kids, and I decide when my kids can be subjected to this, which I want them to get in a classroom at school, not watching that nasty skank make the highlights.

The fact of the matter is by coming down hard on these idiots is a pre-emptive warning on the next entertainer that plans another publicity stunt that might take it to the next level.

As for myself, I enjoy boobs as much as the next guy, but I'll go rent a boob movie if I'm so inclined, and watch it with my wife, not my children.

You know what a boob is to a 7 year old? It's something babies suck on and something dad likes for some strange reason.

If you want kids to think it's bad, then they will.

The terrible music was more offensive to me. That was the real danger to youngsters.

But then Aerosmith really isn't any good either, these days. I can't understand why they are considered 'hip' and the Stones are considered old. Jagger looks so much better than that ratty Tyler.

The fact they were picked, shows they they are now mainstream
and lame. Same with the rest.

What a nonsense! There is scientifical evidence kids won't be hurt when they watch boobs. The only thing that causes trouble is making a big deal out of it.
acting like demons...get serious man.

Regards from the country where almost any kid is exposed early, but has fewer sexcrimes than yours ;) .

Aerosmith wasn't particularly good when they weren't mainstream, either.

Apparently AOL is now saying they will not rebroadcast the Halftime Show, via their website, due to the Errant Boob. Which prompts two questions:

1) Why can't they just blur out the offending gland, as the TV news networks have done? Clearly this is just an excuse, but why?

2) Who would want to watch the Halftime Show a second time anyway?

As for "Janetgate" itself, I can only say that I agree with Randy Jackson, who appeared on The Daily Show yesterday: what the hell? Who cares? It's just a boob!

When the old Puritanical generation is long dead and buried
That won't help. The Puritans have been long dead and buried for quite some time now, but the psychological retardation they left us with is clearly still quite deep.

Where the hell do people get the idea nudity is bad for kids?
The same place they get the idea that dancing is bad for kids. (see above)

It would warp them for life, they should be seein' a good
olde fashioned gun fight, or vampires rippin' out thoarts,

You know, though, from a certain perspective, maybe that mentality actually does a service to our youth. It better prepares them to deal with a society of repressed freaks, because they'll be better able to relate. Justin and Janet probably didn't have that kind of upbringing, and for that reason they are the odd ones out when they conclude, as they clearly must have, that a boob-with-covered-nipple is fine to show on national live TV. It's gotta suck to be them right now.

In other Janetgate news, the FCC is threatening to fine every CBS affiliate that aired the Super Bowl. How much friggin' sense does that make? Hi, I run a CBS affiliate, and I'm NOT going to show the Super Bowl for fear of unwholesome content. Please stone me.

The Super Bowl is only of interest to Americans. The rest of the world watches and plays REAL football (only people in the good 'ol USofA call it 'soccer' ). Yank 'football' is more like rugby if anything (no offense to rugby fans).

About 'the boob:'

Zarn is right. North American children exposed to sex become sexual at a young age. I have a young cousin like that: he will instantely drop his toys and stare intentely at the screen if a sex scene comes on. (I'll sometimes be mean and switch channels between some scanty music video and Barney and wait for his reaction. He'll drop Spider-man and stare at the screen until I change the channel and he'll go back to trying to make Spider-man a permanent addition to the Batmobile. It's like watching someone watch a tennis match --needless to say, Barney recieves none of the attention he deserves.)
Why does he do this? Because there are too many naked women on screen? No. Because sex is continuously being implied in practically every commercial, movie tv show that the kid will ever see. And even if you censure everything, they'll still be influenced by the kids at school.

Had Janet stripped down to her boots it would mean nothing to an 'uncorrupted' kid. If Timberlake were to feel her up, then you have a case. Timberlake's humping Jackson --something that is now fully acceptable in the mainstream media-- probably has a far greater effect than a momentary boob-shot.

BTW, few people would have actually known about the stunt if the media hadn't jumped on it almost the very second after it happened and turned a non-story into a front-page story.

Don't say Americans are lame because they're slightly puritan-ish. Americans watch more hard-core porn than the citizens of most other European countries. If Americans are lame it's because they don't tell their media to shove it.

If Americans are lame it's because they don't tell their media to shove it.
Well, yes, that too. :) But the root cause of the media behaving in such a way as to necessitate being told to shove it? Puritans.

The biggest crime comitted during the Super Bowl was the disgustingly corny pregame show.

People in fake spacesuits landing a fake moon??

You actually watched the pregame?

I think some people have pretty warped sexual mores... touching women is demonic? Oh right, and sex is something you're supposed to regret later, right?

I think I know one of the resaons why these terrorists hate us so much...

Would these be the terrorists from Riyadh or the ones from Topeka?

You think I'm joking, do you? Did you know that we actually side with the Middle Eastern fundie dictatorships on social issues in UN debates?

Puritans

Sigh...you have much to learn, cgannon.

Watched the pregame....

People in fake spacesuits landing a fake moon??
My god. You can't be serious.

*ahem*
Simpsons did it!

Their halftime show parody sounds remarkably similar to this, and it predates Super Bowl XXXVVIIIIIII by several years.

Wow, the ignorance is pretty deep. Have you not read anything our Canadian and European posters have said? Nudity is normal anywhere and they don't have a bunch of demon posessed 7 year olds groping women. Nudity is natural. Stop blaming childrens problems on what they see on television. Fortunately you are only 19 and have plenty of time to figure out how the real world works. or not.
