After leaving office after his four years as governor of Minnesota,
Jesse Ventura has considered running for President in 2008. crazy Minnesotan, don't you know entertainers don't make good governors and nor do they make good Presidents

His semester at Harvard — including parties until the wee hours — has renewed his faith in America and his political ambitions, he said.

Him president?
It somehow does not look to be right...

But anyway, I think we can all agree that 2008 will be a great election year. :goodjob:

Don't say that so quickly. How well did he run Minnesota?

Why CivRules, because of his appearance? If I were an American I would vote for him for sure. Wouldn't agree with him on EVERYTHING, but at least he seems honest and boldly different than the Republican/Democrat ticket.

No, not because of his appearance, but because he is a bit too aggressive IMO. Not to say that I don't agree with him on anything though. ;)

He presents himself in a very assertive matter if that is what you mean, but that would only help him, especially in a world where "tough" leaders are getting elected.

Yeah, and he was the mayor of my hometown before being governor.

Anyway, you think Bush bullied people? This guy used to be a wrestler!

As crazy as this guy is though, he does make valid points, and follows through with acting on them. As my former city mayor, and then state governor, trust me when I say: he would be a better leader then Bush.

Here is some info on "the Body" http://www.ontheissues.org/Jesse_Ventura.htm

To tell you the truth, I did see him do his own show on MSNBC for a few days and I did like it. He *is* though but the people running against him will turn this fact (and his past history as a wrestler) into something negative -- like politicians always do.

**Here's something from the report.**

But he left office four years later, disillusioned and discouraged after a frustrating final year.

His semester at Harvard — including parties until the wee hours — has renewed his faith in America and his political ambitions, he said.

"The best way I can describe it is rehab," Ventura said. "For someone getting out of office like me, even though I've been out for over a year now, it's equivalent I think to an alcoholic or the drug addict going to the Betty Ford clinic."

I think most of us would also agree on that, at least I would. ;)

Not to mention he is way tougher than Arnold, so the Republicans would be hard-pressed to compete.

I mean come on, Arnold plays a soldier in movies, while Ventura was a SEAL in real life.

Like they turned Arnold's and Ronald Reagan's pasts into something negative?

I'd vote for him in a heartbeat; if he could find a centrist respected running mate like McCain he'd have a serious shot at winning it all, but I've no doubt that Republicans would turn on him like Democrats have on Nader.

It would be worth the price of admission to seem him go toe-to-toe in a debate with Hillary.

That guy is a serious overacheiver!
-Navy SEAL
-Pro Football Coach
-Governor of Minnesota

And now he wants to be president?

And that's why the 2008 elections will be interesting. Hillary and Jesse are quite different from each other but yet they are so much better than our current leader. It is almost hard to decide who's better. But if I could vote, I'd cast my support for Jesse as well, although I don't know about him much.
Like I said, I have seen him on TV and I did like what I saw. That's all.

and mayor, actor, athlete...

I guess it proves he gets the job done. That's more then I can say for most people, let alone presidents...

I can't believe any of you would ever entertain the idea of this guy getting elected. I'm serious.

This guy is totally full of it. If not for his advisors stopping him, he might have turned Minnesota into Mongolia.

I'd vote for him!

And I still have both halves of my brain! :D

I'm speechless. Why anyone would vote for this man is just...insane. There's no other word from it. He's like the early Hitler or Castro's Cuba, sure he may look good from the outside, but you don't know how bad he really is until he's in charge!

I'd vote for him. I checked out that website in this thread, and his views are similar to mine on many fronts. Plus, he strikes me as someone who wouldn't take crap from anyone, and would call that person out on it. A no-nonsense approach and a history of excelling at whatever he puts his mind to also appeal to me.
Of course, if he runs as an Independent, he'll have no chance. :(
