If he really is conservative, and Catholic, I can find that funny. Political humor is so much better when you are mocking your own side than your opponent.

Wikipedia says he's Democrat. Sorry, that just ruins it for me. Not that there is anything wrong with being a Dem, but a Republican mocking Republicans is way better than a Democrat doing it. He should at least mock liberals more.

Ferguson was very, very funny when he was on the Drew Carey show, another program that seems to have flown under the radar. I also like Ferguson's choice of guests and his conversations with them.

Looking at the early late night shows, Leno is much funnier that Letterman. Letterman always seems mean spirited and seems to still have a chip on his shoulder because he didn't get Johnnie's job.

Carson had some very funny segments but towards the end it was the same stuff over and over again. Pretty boring.

Carson had the job for so long that people have either never seen or have forgotten his predecessors. Steve Allen had more talent than either Carson or Letterman and did some pretty funny stuff. He also had an quirky ensemble cast that helped him out. Then at the beginning was Jack Paar - amazingly popular and influential. He invented the format and could really get his guests talking.

What I like about Ferguson is that he just riffs the monologue, he doesnt read it off of cue cards.

I am with aaglo, because Conan is the only one that is shown in Australia, but if you only have free to air tv, then you only have Letterman, which is sad. Fortunately I also get Leno, who is by far the best late nigh host.
