JJ03-Monarch, Just Win

If your roster is still open, I would love to join.

By the way, you should activate the "show ressources" button, it helps to analyze screenshot.

Unfortunately the roster is closed. Lots of interest in this SG, had to turn down 2 or 3 people. I usually turn on show resources but maybe I forgot last time.

I've got the save and I will play it now.

I've played my first ever succession game session, but I'm not sure if I've counted my turns correctly.

Nice turns Ngranner and dutchfire!

I think we're off to a solid start. Both Berlin and Hamburg have a lot of potential in them. I think Berlin should try to work tiles by the river though, now it works a grassland forest.

For what to research next I see different options depending if we have bronze nearby or not. If not is Archery a must. Otherwise is getting some culture building in Hamburg important, we will get pyramids right! So writing or Mysticism?

I say mysticism, and then(can't remember if we have it yet) masonry. By the time we get the stone hooked up and one or two more cities founded. Our capital should also be a good size by then. I think that we need another worker soon in addition to that workboat, so maybe that should be our next build in Hamburg.

we don't have masonry yet.

Yep. Mysticism first, so we can build an Obelisk in Hamburg, then Masonry so we can hook up the Stone and begin building the Pyramids.

It's always nice to have Horses nearby! The grassland to the NW of our Warrior scout looks like a fine site for another City - Pigs, Spices and Ponies. Anybody into dot maps? Of course our decisions for future cities will depend on where Copper is/isn't.

Mysticim makes Masonry cheaper and is therefor a hood choice yes. I think it's better to make worker from Berlin.

Well, directly to Masonry is faster, since we already have mining.

Got it, will play tonight. Is there consensus on what to research after BW? We will indeed need an obelisk to get the stone, so Mysticism makes sense.

mysticm then (forgot about the need for an obelisk)

Bad news...no bronze. I got a couple of fog busters out, but it looks like we might be alone on the continent as usually we would have met a couple of ai by now. So, barbs will be a big problem shortly, one of the fogbusters already got whacked in his forest post. We probably need to go ahead and get IW next, after masonry, or archery and HBR. Researched BW->Myst.->part of Masonry.

A couple of scouts might not be a bad idea to see what techs and gold we can get from huts.

Good luck:

Are there any barbs already? That would mean someone invented writing (right?)

Fogbusters are well and good, but expanding will push the barbs back more. As we are at the end of a continent, expanding out will stop the barbs from spawning in our end. I think we should build at least two warriors to excort a settler that can settle in some spot without jungle, probably in the east by the horses and rice. After masonry we should probably research archery and crank out a few archers before starting the pyramids. While we are building the pyramids, expansion will be slowed because we will probably only have one or two productive cities. It may be all we can do just to fight back the barbs at that point. However, I think that is okay because we would have to slow expansion anyway until we can chop down the jungle with iron working.

There is a settler half-way complete in the capital, but I inserted a warrior in the queue since the barbs are starting to show up. There are two good city sites currently, we could probably use a dot-map for discussion.

Agriculture would make our second and future cities MUCH more productive, so we should consider that after archery, and/or sending out some scouts to pop huts.

Sorry, forgot to post the roster. I'll give Krockel a bit longer, he might not have realized he was playing.

Roster:
Jeejeep
ngraner42
Dutchfire
rddc05
Krockel-up
Lobsterboy-on deck

Thanks for the extra time jeejeep. You are right about that I didn't realised my turn. I will play after I have played my SGOTM turns, so within a couple of hours.

1630 – 1330 BC

I played 10 turns and not much action went on. Rather then summarize turn by turn I summarize city by city and add some extra comments and thoughts.

Berlin:
Whipped out a worker and regrowth city. Warrior due in two turns, timed for hitting max happiness and finishing archery, so some archers should be up next I think. Then a settler that is nearly half pre-built.

Hamburg:
Obelisk done and Granary is up in one turn due to forest-chop. Road to stone is done and two workers are ready to build an quarry when boarder will pop in 7 turns. Until then I believe they should make some more cottages, one is already done. For city production is Work Boat a good next option, archers could be nice to though.

Barb-city.
Don’t know if this happened in my turn-set but a barb-city has been built NW of mountain complex.

Other things:
Our fortified warrior north of Berlin killed a Barb archer and gained Woodsman I promotion.

Finally a view of the world as we know it. I could have scouted some with our warriors, but after I saw barb-city I preferred to fortifie warriors in strategic wood location, which payed of with a killed barb archer. :)
