JJ03-Monarch, Just Win

The two scientists in Hamburg with Rep and a Library should improve our research quite a bit. Any other specialists we can get going will be good too. Next player, please don't forget to revolt! :)

A galley for exploration after the library in Hamburg would be good. Granaries in the other cities if we don't have them already, and a settler wouldn't be bad either. Our specialist based research won't depend on Science slider, so we can afford the expansion. I disagree that we should settle our entire island before moving to the next. The sooner we have a production/power base on that other island, the better.

Smart move to get scientist in Hamburg instead of Berlin. 100 % GS is the way to go. IW and then make some (4?) swords to take Libiyan (barb-city west of Munich). Then we can ferry over the swords an take barb-city on other continent. Then we can deside were we should expand next, mainland or new continent. I think we should try to build settle at least on more city before IW come in and have another settler ready to grab iron if we don't have it within our borders.

Question: Are we doing 10 or 15 or 20 turn sets since this is on epic?

I'd say do 20, at least until we contact some other civs.

Continued the plan. Faced a barbarian scare, but fended it off.

0. Revolted to Representation.

1. zzz.

2. Munich pasture underway.

3. zzz.

4. Great Lighthouse BIFL. Libyan defended by 3 Archers.

5. Make that 4 Archers. Barbarian Archer approaches Munich; workers take refuge in city.

6. Moscow: Barracks>Archer. Warrior observing Libyan is killed.

7. Warrior in Munich is killed by Barbarian Archer (2 star upgraded). Archer is pop-rushed in Munich.

8. Barbarian kills pop-rushed Archer. Remaining warrior leaves city to kill triple upgraded Barbarian Archer while it is at 0.7 strength. Archer rushes up from Moscow. Workers complete Pasture.

9. Berlin: Archer>Archer.

10. Berlin capped out at max health; population 6. Munich: Obelisk>Archer.

11. zzz.

12. Berlin Archer>Archer. Barbarian Archer appears near Munich; double upgraded but slightly injured. I decide not to try to protect the Pasture. Send Berlin Archer to Munich.

13. Workers take refuge in Munich again.

14. Instead of pillaging the Barbarian Archer attacks the city and is destroyed. :)

15. Munich switches production to a Settler. Berlin: Archer>Library

16. Hamburg: Library>Galley. 2 Researchers go to work in Hamburg, which is happiness capped at size 6.

17. IW completed, Meditation underway. Two sources of Iron discovered, but they are a bit out of the way.

18. zzz.

19. Berlin allowed to grow to size 7 as cruel oppression war off.

20. Barbarian Archer approaches Munich.

A couple additional notes.

I went with a Library in Berlin, but switching to another Settler may be a better idea. Pop rushing can be used there to accelerate either one.

The workers are building a cottage near Munich, but the square is a little vulnerable and chopping a second forest may be called for to get the Settler out.

I've got the save. I will play it today.

We've got a problem guys:
Confucianism has been founded.
Spoiler :
400 BC: x
385 BC: meditation finished->priesthood, archer attack barbarian, wins
370 BC: x
355 BC: Priesthood finished-> Code of Laws
340 BC: Munichs borders expand, workers go to horses.
325 BC: x
310 BC: Berlin: Library->settler
295 Confucianism has been founded, stopped playing

I stopped playing because we need to discuss this. I think I will play the rest of my 20 turns tomorrow.

sorry, I didn't notice that, I will change it when playing the rest.

What's the problem? So we didnt' get Confuscism. We'll survive. Keep researching Code of Laws. We'll need courthouses soon enough anyway. Afterwards, we should probably abandon any attempts to get a religion and start researching towards Astronomy.

I don't think it's a problem that we didn't found Confucianism. I do think we should do all that we can to found Taoism. We are already capped at city size 6 (7 or 8 when Calendar comes it), so we really need the happiness.

The GS when it comes should give us Philo and, hopefully, Taoism.

ok, I thought that I should get your opinions.

I'm not sure if I covered this completely in the other post about using the GS, but we will need to research Mathematics if we want to use him to discover Philo (otherwise he will offer to discover Math for us). I would suggest doing that now, although I'm not sure how many turns are left until our GS pops.

Of course, we can self-research Philo at this point also. Not having any religion is a BIG mistake for us, in my opinion.

I won't be able to play until Sunday as I'm out of town this weekend, so maybe I can switch with somebody? (I'd hate to get skipped til the next go-round). Or maybe you guys don't mind waiting a bit til I can get to it?

I chose Alphabet because we might be able to trade some important techs with it now we've met Qin and Toku.

One quick question: Do we get a trade route if we see a chinese city on the coast? If that's the way, we will get Buddhism soon.

Ok, I thought so. If that's the case, we don't need Taoism, it would be nice though.
