JNES: Learning to Walk

hmm what to specialise in...probably wrong sort of culture to become the workshop of the world :mischief:

@Jason - the Capital of the Gargari is Gar Versey.
And doing the map was no trouble at all (anything to pass the time is good right now :) )

OOC: Mysincereapologieslackofinspirationandsoforth.

IC:

"Vodad Bahris!" - shouted Airus - "Vodad Bahris..."

Bahris was lying in the grass, shaking with rage. And later, when he was told of it all, he himself found it weird. For, after all, he did not see his mother often for the last ten years, and as she was old he found her to be annoying and senile... Yet suddenly, when he heard the details, of how the mob tore her apart, of how Arhus gloated and declared this to be "justice"...

Something snapped, and Bahris for a few moments was lying on the grass, shaking with rage, biting grass and thinking of... something, even if Bahris had remembered his precise trails of thought he would not have mentioned them - he was scared. But soon, it was over.

Madness and rage were replaced by steely determination. Determination to carry out all his plans. No matter the cost.

---

"But... But we..."

"We had an agreement!"

"You promised that..."

"Plans changed." - replied Bahris coldly to the Tajra representatives - "The capital will be there, and the proclamation will be there. There can be no new Yatera hanakad. Instead, we will build the Okarad there. This is a matter of importance."

"No!" - declared one of the Tajra elders. The others remained quiet.

"Yes." - said Bahris, simply. The Tajra were afraid of him just as well. They wouldn't risk cancel the agreement NOW.

They gave up, ofcourse.

---

So it was that the work on the Empire begun. Months passed, and the Okarad was nearing completion. Scouts explored the lands, and infiltrated the tribes, and studied their stances. Bahris was on the move, and nothing was to stop him now.

But he did keep the elders, they still were nominally important. And the tribes were allowed to keep their specific customs... So, Bahris told himself, it was a lesser evil.

Yet, as it is known, he was wrong; for there is no global good or global evil. The world was changing, it was as simple as this. The old systems were dying out, and indeed, empires rose. Ruthless, opressive... but nonetheless, they also had much merit, for they gave meaning to the lives of many men, greater meaning then what was before. Empires, unlike petty, egoistical tribes, are based on self-sacrifice. The people gave up their freedom, the elite took up all the burden of reign... and the energy of the people was put to use. Armies were raised, and they became the main tool for expansion. Arts and sciences that would otherwise have come much later were now given a boost, as empires encouraged them, for the empires needed progress, needed immortality. Needed achievements.

Truly great were the empires where the ruler was at one with his people; and Bahris' Werkasely was such an Empire.

So say the lity.

Jason, could you change my capital name to Vyzkae? Oh, and I think the population estimate of 14,000 is really, really high. I mean, we live in the bloody taiga, I estimated Guipae (which is now relegated to second major city) at like a thousand at most, Vyzkae at a few thousand. Oh well, won't complain. ;)

North King: ....no. :) 14,000 is about your limit for that city for now (unless you do some stuff) but it is at 14,000. If I have it any lower, I would have to subtract some from your available men.

Israelite: You can build monuments in your city. Check the culture section of the rules. If you want it to be a wonder, then say so, and invest how ever much money/time you want. The more you invest, the more "wonder"ous it will become. But you don't get +20 men from building pyramids, for example, the rewards will be whatever I deem is reasonable for what you build.

Mostly it will be culture. And culture is a HUGE thing in this NES.

Anyways, I have put NPC stats on the first page. I am planning on starting the update tonight after classes, and then finishing on saturday or sunday.

I do believe that NK was complaining about him having TOO MUCH people. He wants less.

My advice is to start killing them off at random. :p

When I finish I will post it, with or without more orders. Lets face it youve had long enough if you havnt sent them.

I've been banned for the last three days.

Its a special talent. ;)

That doesn't make any sense, though, Jason. Not everyone in a nation, nay, very few people in a nation live in a city in ancient times.

Well they do in this world :)

EDIT: If you really want your population fixed, then I will do it in the update.

I'm not mad, really, just amused it could be so high. ;)

Vizkae Orders:

Expand.
The usual economic activities of a taiga nation.
Invent Vodka.
