Journey to Nowhere - Game Thread

"Now now, we don't want ourselves to kill our whole group."

"Ronin, and Benjamin, sit. I will pretend to be Dr.Phil in a simpler age of which I can't distinctly remember (aka, another part of the Forum Games Metaverse)"

"Ronin, you are a calculated but suspicious wildcat, silent and willing to do what is right but putting such aside to defend oneself."

"Benjamin, you are a dark raven, always at the wrong place at the wrong time. Us never knowing if you did it or wether you are just a victim of fate."

"Tell me everything you know and tell the truth. I have seen enough monkeys scowling at me before they hug me or another smiling at me to shake my hand before it SHHts on me to know facial emotions well. (GM tells :))"

(And, I am still hurt so this is like lunacy, except I really am trying to do this and I am not pretending :))

OOC: I'm critically injured, I can't talk. And Ronin should get his arse on MSN because well... it'sirritating not to be able to discuss things like NOTW and JtN.. Bloody murderer

Allright, I'm going to investigate Jeremys body, since i am a doctor in this country i do know a bit of crimes too.

However i need some protector and witness. Since I don't have a gun and so you are sure I'm not lying..

OOC: Just so you guys know, I will need to know how your characters will try to resolve the situation, or else I can't make an update. (For example, if you want executions, you better say that in your orders. If you want to bind them up with rope, you have to say that. Or, if you want to forgive them, you have to say that too.)

Oh, and there's 7 hours left until the deadline.

"Let's finish off Benjamin Cook. Dickie has me convinced, there. We'll take Mike Hammer with us if he can move fast enough. I think Ronin's innocent. We can't waste our time here, or tie up half our team. We need to move, and quickly. The Imperials are still out there, looking for us."

{Edit:} "Oh, and any weapons you all don't claim, I'm taking and breaking down for spare parts."

I vote we bind Benjamin Cook, we must learn who his superiors are.

I vote we bind them both to find out what they know...

You attempt to bind me and you're all just going to get ambushed again. Also there are others like me out there... Lone wolves working for the corporation... They're all just as dangerous as me... Some more... If they wander across us with me bound in rope they're going to shoot first and ask questions later. I've already proved my innocence so if you continue to vote upon binding me and restricting my movement... Well... I'm going to have to eventually get loose or die... And if I do get loose you already know that I never miss a shot... The Ronin spins his clip with the missing three bullets with his finger. You sure you guys want to do that? Seems to be giving a lot of advantage up just to bring down an awful lot of disadvantage on your heads. And for what? There's no possible way I could have killed Jeremy and I shot Benjamin Cook in self defense under suspicious circumstances. I refuse to relinquish my weapons and I plead that those with a sprinkling of sense come forth now and offer their assistance against the violent mob.

As much as I suspect Mr. Cook, I ain't in the business of executin' people on such flimsy evidence. In any case, it don't look like he'll be runnin' away from us in a hurry, so I don't think we'll need to be bindin' him today.

And while we're on the subject... Doc? Could you at least stop the bleedin', and patch Ben up enough so he'll live to tell his side of the story?

As for our other suspect... I don't fully trust him yet, but I reckon we might need Ronin's shootin' arm on the way to this safehouse, so I vote against bindin' him as well.

What I will say is that our newest arrival should stick with the group at all times - so no scoutin' missions today - and that a couple of us should stand guard when the group stops to rest.

Hey, Selena... How d'you fancy stayin' up late with ol' Dickie?

*There is a slight twinkle in Dickie's eye. Dazzler's eyes hold nothing but contempt.*

(OOC: To be clear, that's bind no-one, head towards the safehouse, and stand guard at night.)

Ok after talking with ronin I think that we should just bind up Benjamin and head out to the safehouse. I would still like one of those SMG's and a Sniper. We need to distrubute the food around. Personally I could use quite a bit of it as I don't have much left. I am quite capable with weapons and could certainly be able to put both to good use. After Ninosca left us we've been missing quite a bit of direction.

Journey to Nowhere – 0600 hrs, 01.06.00 (Update 11)

With Benjamin Cook critically injured, and the Ronin holding a smoking gun, the group had a decision to make. After a bit of arguing, Dr. Richard went ahead and tied Benjamin up with some vines he found, depite some objections from others. Benjamin Cook lacked the strength to struggle, and the Doctor approached Ronin to tie him up. However, overwhelming objection from the group stopped him (Dr. Richard learned his lesson from his attempt to escape to Bakerstown). Benjamin Cook started muttering some things, but then Alen stepped forward and shot an arrow in his head. Mike Hammer went up to his body, and whispered, “I forgive you.” Investigation of Benjamin Cook revealed that his pistol’s clip was short one bullet.

The next step was to find the body of Jeremy Bentham, and the Ronin led the group there. As the Ronin had said earlier, there were knife wounds to the neck, and a bloody knife lying nearby. Dr. Richard searched for fingerprints and any other evidence, but couldn’t find any. However, they did find Bentham’s big backpack, loaded with all sorts of miscellaneous junk, and some more interesting things.

After the commotion that day, the group knew it would be best to stay where they were, and they discussed the situation, splitting all of the food and other items from dead people. There were a few things they left for later, however, including Jeremy Bentham’s large backpack. (However, Dr. Richard did take his gun back.) Then Dickie sent Dazzler to hunt for some rabbits, and he returned with enough to feed the group with. (Food totals do not go down for this day.) Everyone went to sleep, and prepared for the next day.

In the middle of the night, the Ronin heard a plane pass by, but it was high in the sky, so nobody could shoot it down. The next morning, he told everyone, and they knew they’d have to pack up and move quickly. They dropped the spare sleeping bags and tents to lighten their carrying weight, and moved ahead. The group of seven moved southwards pretty quickly, especially considering that Terni Hans was still somewhat wounded.

By the time sunset arrived, the group was within a few hours of the rebel safehouse. Terni Hans suggested that they keep travelling, since it was so close. The Ronin, however, said it was not a good idea, because there was always the risk that the safehouse was captured, and the fact that a plane flew by earlier on made things even riskier. The group camped out for the night, ready for what could be the most dangerous leg of the journey.

It is now 0600 hrs, the 1st of Daybound, Year 00. The next turn will last ~24 game hours, and the deadline for orders is Friday March 27th at 11:59 PM GMT (7:59 PM EDT).

Status Report:

Well, it seems like you’re close to the end of the journey. However, the end might just be the hardest part. Be prepared, as anything can happen.

The following are things that need to be distributed:
- Cleaver
- Hunting Knife
- Large Backpack (Includes some sort of security mechanism that requires some time to open and inspect)
- Radio

There’ll be inventory PMs again, since I’ve gone ahead and distributed most of the dead people’s possessions.

Well, well. The knife that was used to murder Mr. Bentham was mine. Very interesting, that.

Mr. Hammer looks around for the good Doctor, and nods.

Thanks for patching me up there, I feel a lot better. I'd probably feel better if I could get rid of these bear traps and rabbit traps. I made them thinking we'd hole up somewhere, but, well, we're already at the safehouse. I don't know how useful they can be.

Mr. Ronin, maybe you have some ideas? You're the expert...

The Ronin gathers everyone around.

The safe-house was attacked by Vlatixans when I headed north to the caves. I don't know who won, but I do know that our only shot at getting out of the Vlatixan Empire is the collection of high speed train cars in the basement of the safe-house.

With the plane that flew overhead I am filled with an overwhelming sense of dread that at best the Vlatixans have captured the safe-house and at worst know of our presence on top of that.

I trust nobody grabbed that RPG or the rockets? Typical... The Ronin mutters something about amateurs... We've got one shot at this and if anyone screws up we're as good as dead. It is almost certain that we're going to be outnumbered and outgunned.

Here's how I think we should proceed... I'll walk a little ahead of the group to make sure we avoid any traps and ambushes, stay alert and have your weapons ready at all times... Once we get within a certain distance of the safe-house I will scale a tree and ascertain whether the safe-house has been captured. If it has I will give you all the signal and you should fall out. I will take position in a inconspicuous tree and I will also deliver the first shot... No-one... I repeat... No-one (unless necessary to survival) will engage the enemy and alert them to our presence. Terni Hans and Benedick “Dickie” Barrow will all find appropriate spots in the brush covered by makeshift camouflage made up of the tent canvas and leaves and dirt, acquiring a target before the conflict starts. Soldiers with heavy weapons and notable ranked soldiers shall be the first targets. While the three of us engage the enemy Mike Hammer (equip now with Benjamin Cook's SMG or Jeremy Bentham's shotgun) and Dr. Richard Of Eastduke covered by Alen will move down the left flank (never leaving the tree line) providing sporadic fire and keeping the foe divided and confused while Selena Demas sits, hidden in brush near the snipers, covering the right flank from being overtaken and our snipers being compromised. Chances are we're going to have to engage in close quarters fighting so if we have any spare pistols and knives everyone take one. I suggest if we have any tent canvas left we use it to cover holes we dig a little back from the treeline to hamper and slow any enemy movement forwards toward the snipers. Once the enemy is neutralized the left flank move towards the safe-house across the open. The right flank shortly after escorts our snipers to follow in while the left flank set up defensive positions around the front of the safe-house. Then we enter together with SMG and Shotgun wielding soldiers crouched in front... While pistol wielders and Alen cover with close quarter fire over the top. We move fast incase of enemy reinforcements...

Any questions/comments about the plan?

EDIT - After talking with Alen he has enough weapon parts to augment many of our weapons... He also has two RPG's... He'll be saving one for any helicopter/armored vehicle resistance we MIGHT receive. The first RPG will be fired as the enemy combatants begin to run towards the treeline and across the open, this will be a deterrent shot mainly (the enemy has no idea how many rockets we have) but will also aim to kill and further confuse their forces.

In regards to the left flank... If Alen dies someone needs to pick up the RPG and rockets and continue, they're invaluable.

Alen raises his hand.

"Yeah, Ronin, I've got a couple of rockets here. I, uh, took apart the launcher to have a look at its workings, but I'll put it back together better than it was before. Anyway, if you all want some work done on your weapons - scopes, hair triggers, whatever - come to me."

Well, that sounds like a good plan, 'cept you're sending me and Dr. Richard out together, and I don't think either of us are very good fighters. Well, at least I know I'm not. Guess I'll take that shotgun, if it's still around. It's got a wide spread, even a fool like me would be able to hit something with it.

Also, since we can't figure out what we're going to do with these superfluous bear traps and rabbit traps, I'm just going to toss them here. Maybe someone will step on them, hmm? Or we could light them on fire and throw them in.

He hums quietly a little tune very popular back home, "Kryta's On My Mind."

I am a lousy fighter. It's better if I stay in the center to take care of any hurt since they probably need help right away or they will pass away.

"At least I can walk again!

If you can put a scope on my old Rifle that will help in the upcomming conflict... which I hope will be avoided."

Alen will fix our snipers with scopes and saw off the shotgun for you Mike Hammer. We need all hands on deck so you will be fighting my good DR. I also need you to stay with the left flank to take care of any wounded on the move. You don't need to be a great shot, we're giving you an SMG so just pour some covering fire on them and damn well keep moving. Mike you'll be fine, if you need someone to help you along Alen will shoulder you and you'll have lots of covering fire.
