Well I've been browsing the SG forums for quite some time now and I'm beginning to learn some of the strategies people use to beat the higher levels.

Normally, I play on Warlord, but I desire to be a little ambitious and go ahead to Noble difficulty, one which I have never won. I am completely new to SG's and so I might have difficulty with this, so lend me a hand if you see me slipping. I've also noticed that there are not very many SG's right now targeted towards newer players so I posted this.

So my roster will consist of 4-6 people. I would like two to be fairly advanced players, meaning Prince and above, to teach myself and the crew some tools of the trade. And the rest I would prefer to be not very advanced players who want to learn and become good. Of course, lurkers are welcome. Post here to sign up and I'll post in the registration thread as well. I'll edit this post to include a roster as soon as we have members.

Difficulty: Noble
Map: Continents
Variants: None
Speed: Normal

Any preferences on leader?

Turns will be 30,20,20,15,15 for the first rotation and 10 after that

24 hours for a "got it", post required in 48 hours

ROSTER:
picardathon

pholkhero/Munterpipe <--- Hybrid advisor.

princecharles

If you want or need it, i'll gladly play the role as Elder Advisor. I can't take turns (except for once in a great while) b/c i'm trying to cut back on my SG habit, but i'll offer advice and such if needed. i can beat Prince pretty easily, and Monarch when I focus myself.

However, if you have enough non-noobs playing, i'll probably just lurk.

Pholk, I was looking for an advisor who could play with us noobs but lurking is cool too. Right now, I have no one; those who want to sign up can do it in this thread

If you change your mind, tell me.

Good initiative. Can I be an elderly advisor as well? I'm sort of in the same spot as Pholkhero:mischief:

Of course, can you play though? If you can't you can be a lurker too. Of course, you too can change your mind

Well, I can beat Noble, but I rarely am able to beat prince, can I join up?

well, if you have 2 Advisors and the rest of Warlord or Noble players, you'll learn enough anyway just playing with each other, focusing on your turns (much more than in SP games), and generally picking up each others' tricks AND, best of all, you can learn while doing. OR, you could have 2 of your 4 other players be more advanced and just correct things whenever they get a chance to play ~

anyway, i don't have time to play, so I guess i'm lurking

picardthon - you're on the roster

I've decided to take ONE advisor and three new players, who play on warlord or noble, and myself.

advisor - Prince and above

@pholk: Honored to have you lurking. We could use some of your great advice from time to time.

well then, if you'll have me, i'll take that Advisor spot.

As i said, i'll be able to play some turns, just not every rotation as would be needed from a full spot. I am, however, on the forums most of the day here, and will offer heaps of (unwanted) free advice ~ it'll all be worth what you pay for it :mischief:

I really think you made a good call. As all too often happens, when there's one or 2 players who are better than the rest, more often than not, the "lesser" players just defer to the judgement of the "betters" and that doesn't help anyone ~

alright Pholk I guess I'll put you on the roster. When you can't play, just tell us and we can skip you if you want.

I don't want to commit to another SG as I'm allready in three, but I'm happy to give pointers (and maybe do a turnset if you're in trouble;).) Anyway, there's plenty of better players than me out there. Pholky and I are popping our emperor cherry as we speak in another SG.

Edit: Added the "mayby do a turnset" part.

Good call on that one. As Pholk says, you can only learn so much from watching experienced players, and you can do that in other SGs. To improve your game, you've got to play it!

I've read your eight angry men SG and I would like to congratulate you guys for doing so well. Keep it up! :goodjob:

well pholk is already in the advisor spot, but you can do a turnset occasionally. Following your and pholk's advice, I'm trying to limit advisors to only one, however since you both are busy with other SG's you guys can combine to form One Advisor TM

oh...in the roster, now i have to play! don't you know i'm an addict; you're just enabling me :D

so, start?? ;) :)

as far as leader, do you have a particular style in mind (war, builder) or just play what we get?? If that latter is the case, just Roll up a Random leader and we should take it from there.

edit: perhaps, when i need a skip, Munter can hop in my slot. oh...i see the One Advisor (TM) ~ we're like Voltron!!

Agreed on the random leader. I'll start with two more people I guess. Three or four people SG's are a rarity.

If bychance we do get two people in a short amount of time, then I'll be playing in the evening. I'm GMT -8, which is the US west coast.

Oh! I came up with a pointer allready!
Japanrocks, in you signature, you've linked to this game. Good. When you insert a link somewhere it shows up like this:
URL="http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=180288"]http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=180288[/URL
=
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=180288

If you change the part in red you can make the link appear as anything you want, for example:

URL="http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=180288"]SIGN UP[/URL
=
SIGN UP

( removed the first and last bracket in the examples to make the whole formula show.)

It took a while for me to get things like that, and I hope you find it helpful:)

EDIT: Pholk, should we call ourself Munterhero or Pholkpipe?

Signature link changed. And its alright Munterhero, if you don't play all rotations. I'm comfortable with your anti-addiction measures, Pholkpipe

a start might get more folks ~ (okay, enough 'advice' for now ;) )

@ Munter, why not use both. Munterhero out.

I'll play and post here this evening, fine, but before I do so..

How do you add screenshots up here. I'm pretty sure that it has been explained a thousand times, but I'm feeling rather lazy.

Check this link to see how you upload a file.
You can either upload them to CFC, or use a free image upload site like www.photobucket.com or Imageshack.

When you have uploaded the image to the internet, copy the url of the image and post it like this:
