Most important experiences for me was starting to really play the game. Not letting the computer playing the fun parts. Micromanaging cities early on was the key. Then building Stacks of Doom, made me win wars too. Finally by playing the game on epic speed, made it a completely different and much more playable game. I've never ever played so much with modern units in any Civ game, as I did in the last game.
