I intend on using this thread to post some concept sketch work for various units I would like to see made.

The Engineer: We already have a cut'n paste version of this unit made by Pesoloco and taken from CtP. Peso's is a nice unit, but I would like a 3D version of this upgrade to the industrial age worker.

Default: standing there with his plans
Fidget: Unrolls plans and looks around
Road: Pulls out Jack-Hammer and pounds away
Mining: Pulls out auger-drill and digs
Forest: Chainsaw

The Ancient Assassin: This is the first in the line of Assassin units. I would eventually like to see flavor units done for each culture, but I will start off with this one. :)

Default: Looks like a Roman or Greek Citizen
Fidget: Puts hand up to chin and gazes off contemplatively
Attack: Pulls Dagger out of robes and attacks in a downward stabbing motion.

There will be more as I am able to put them together. There are tons of them in my head, but I just haven't had the time to put them to paper.

Future Soldiers of America
the Objective Force Warrior

The US Military's plan for the soldier of tomorrow. I have taken some liberties with the design, but it is based loosely on the images that are available online.

and, Future Warrior 2025
FW2025a.jpg

As the name implies the hope is to have something like this by 2025. These guys are equipped with all kinds of cool gadgets including an ultraviolet searchlight on the helmet, mini-rocket launchers on the forearms, reinforeced exoskeleton with artificial muscle enhancement, a self sealing suit that monitors the soldiers vitals and can administer necessary medicines, nanofiber weave camoflage that can adapt to the background, etc. etc. etc.

Some Sci-Fi Units:

This is a Cyborg. His left arm can transform into various weapons of mass destruction. :)
I call him Natty Dread

Those are awsome!
I love the sci-fi units! Question for them though, are those like extreem-future exoskeletons or more mech units? That would give a better visuilazation of what it should move like.

id say give the medievil assassin a Stilleto (sp?)

Fat swords show up a lot better at civ scale.

those are power armor/exoskeletons. :D

This one's for Smoking Mirrors Mars Scenario.

Here is the Terran forces M.A.N.T.I.S. Armor.

The armor is made using nano-reactive fibers that react to to outside stimuli to protect the wearer. The suit is able to seal out bio/chem agents, harden instantly to resist kinetic forces, change color to blend with the surrounding environment, reduce thermal signature to blend with the ambient air temperature, and is light and flexible enough to allow full range of movement as well as reduce the overall fatigue level of the soldier wearing it allowing for extended operating times in the field.

The rifle is a combination DEW (Directed Energy Weapon) and Gyrojet.

The spines are used to project the ECM field in order to jam enemy sensors that can not be defeated by the suits other counter measures.

Right now I am working on the Quetzal Archer for the Mesoamerican civs. He will be based on the Aztec god, Quetzalcoatl. I expect to have the drawing done this weekend, after that it is up to Kinboat to make him a reality. I will then try and finish off the rest of the missing ancient to middle ages Native American units (Worker, Settler, Swordsman, Midieval Infantry, Pikeman, Knight, Musketman, Assassins).

Future plans coincide with Dom Pedro II’s flavor unit project. I am going to concentrate on drawing flavor concepts for the ancient to medieval period, basically from Settlers and Workers to Pikemen and Arquebusiers (Musketmen).

The Units:
Scout
Worker
Settler
Warrior
Archer
Spearman
Horseman
Swordsman
Midieval Infantry
Longbowman
Pikeman
Knight
Musketman
Ancient Assassin
Medieval Assassin

The Civ Groups:
Native North America
MesoAmerica
Sub-Saharan Africa
Egypt
Middle East
South East Asia
Central Asia
Polynesia
Mediterranean
Central Europe
Northern Europe

That’s about 150 Sketches plus the Victorian Secret Service and the Cold War Special Agent to finish off the Spy Assassin line. In addition, I am also considering doing concept work for some non-standard units that can be used for various scenarios or mods (tell me you didn’t see that one coming. ;))

I haven’t made any plans for after that. :)

look at those arms... is he the popeye :D

Kal-el, that's a lot of scetching - and a lot of units too. I wish I could make human units (at the same quality as uj7 and kinboat... and those whose names I don't remember right now ;) )

[EDIT]: Oh, on little tiny nitpicky thing (which has propably absolutely nothing to do with the game): It's about the first scetch here - the Engineer.

Traditionally their hardhat is White.... :mischief:

:groucho:

I've got some catalogues laying around if you need some reference...:D

about the hardhats, it all depends on the job site. I have seen them in all colors and in many different shapes. Heck I have even seen hardhats in the shape of cowboy hats.

the one thing I don't like about the engineer is the placement of the reflective tape on his vest. I didn't really research those vests when I drew it and now I hate it. :(

About Popeye, well, it helps to over-emphasize the muscles. Take a look at some of the original units and you'll see that some of them are very well developed. :) (I also draw comic book heroes for fun, so some of that may rub off in these drawings. :D)

Yep, there are all colours of hardhats - but construction&civil engineers have always a white one (I know, because I'm one). Different construction workers have different colours though.

...well atleast here... but this is not important issue at all ;)

I noticed some resemblances with some marvel superhero poses in some pics :p

Kal El, exactly what mediterranean civ would have the scout. None of them are expansionist.
