Update 1
Domestic Events
Karsa, an isolated culture has made steps to ensure its isolation, it has begun a system of organised levee's, the intended effect, an increase in training has not come about, but the levees have a higher morale than would normally be the case. Additionally a communication system via Drums has been set up, currently fairly ruidmentary and limited in what ideas can be expressed, it looks set to develop further and is a possible hint of a written language appearing. Not everything is picturesque however, an attempt to train the soldiers further failed; the money provided for such actions was filtered off into creating a power base for members of the military.
The effect of the isolation and the fairly militarised way of life for the Karsans has resulted in a few "barbarians" from outside the Great wall of Mountains ringing the nation being ritually tortured and their heads being used as a warning to all those who dare enter the Karsans lands.
(+ Communications, levee system, - 1 Stability, People scared of Karsa, harder to trade, + 2 Dread)
To the West Caladan Prospers, and expands making contact with some of the Tribes, some of the more "civilised" join, and a few make neutral sounds. A lot view the Caladan as weak, and wish to plunder its fertile lands.
(+1 nobility)
In Derios the King dies, and his heir is not made king, instead a republic is claimed. This is quite naturally extremely destabalising, however a grand statue of the last King is planned which confuses the population a bit, but also placates them. Some Colonies where established, but the planned raids against pirates in the area had to be cancelled as the Republic deceided that the men would be better off ensuring that the citizens did not rebel. However, with the creation of the colonies raw materials and other trade goods flow into the Capital city, and it becomes that much more richer.
(-3 Stability, + colonies, + TC)
Lois continues to destabalise, the last proper heir to the Throne was killed in a minor skirmish, but this was lost in the blur of events that followed, currently there are 2 main factions that have sprung up, one is a minor Govener of one of the provinces, going by the name of Ulthar, not a tactical genius, but he has a good eye for stratagy and planning. The other Man goes by the name of Philip, this is a general of one of the former so called Kings that has managed to hold onto the men and guide them. He has currently formed a strong bond to them and has become practically invincible in battle. Of course Foreign armies have looked to Lois as an easy target...
(+Ulthar, + Philip, + Foreign devils; see military)
Going south again, to Binikos, there has been continued investment into the Navy, some minor colonies have also been established, and trade routes have been protected, the central location of the Capital, Kesala and the expansion of its docks has transformed it into a centre of Trade for the sea.
(+1 Trade centre)
Nothing of note happens until we come accross the relativly young Kingdom of Ordos [1], slightly unusual in that it does not maintain a standing army but instead relies upon its leviees to protect itself, this has resulted in a highly stable state as their are no roving bands of trained soldiers that have been disbanded looking for a life. Secondly it has required the establishment of a very strict regime of leveeing, and the training of these levees. And their is a distinction made between the standing militia's and the other potential levees. The militias have higher morale, better equipment, and due to expansion into the mountains and down the river, have become a better fighting force overall. Current estimates of the standing Militia are about 10000, 2000 of which are comparable to the training of other nations professional soldiers.
This is not all that the Kingdom of Ordos has been up to however, the dependece on a Levee system has ensured that more money can be invested into the institutions and purposes of greater tax's. This has been done by expanding the silver mines in the mountains and having them owned by the King, but also by creating an irrigation system for the farms.
(+1 TC, + 1 Land Income, + 2000 militia of Adequete training)
Next we turn to the Divine Monarchs of the East.
Rahinin, expands its military and forces itself on the barbarians to the South, as often is the case, dipomatic missions were sent to the area to ask them to join up peacfully, none wanted to, but the Rahinin certainly held an advantage when expanding due to the knowledge gained from the Diplomats of the political situation, which they were able to twist to their advantage. Investment into the city of Gamatahon has transformed it into a Trade centre for the the region, although the Huran have concentrated on a increasing their Agricultural profits, and have made threataning sounds towards Rahinin, especially when Utha has become more unstable...
(+ 1 TC Rahinin, - stab Utha, + 1 land econ Huran)
Moving north, to Gaznel, the Great temple is completed with some of the finest white marble. Next conversion of the barbarians to the south began, and then the Gaznel moved in to secure the terriotry, not quite reaching their expansion goals.
(+ Project, much festivals and feasting)
To the West we come to a proper war zone;
Singod is the only power to have developed prior to the wars, as it exploits its capitals position next to a lake and the three rivers, it becomes a centre of trade. This however might not last, as it invaded Lois, and also the Krengel Clans [2] to the west.
Military Events:
Lots of nations expand,
(losses are in your stats)
Let us begin this tale of the Izanagi and the Krengel Clans, and weave it together with that of Abaddon of Singod.
Intially Singod expands east capturing a city and then turns its eyes south to Lois. Attempting to sow discontent between the seperate factions of the nation, Abaddon did not worsen the situation, he only muddied it further. Of course, he took this moment to strike and smashed down south into the Northen most terretories of Lois. He had an easy time of it, but the he bumped into Philip, actually a result of Ulthars planning and stratagy, who wished to remove Philip from the centre of power in the capital regions of the Lois, so he could build up a base of power. Now as said, Philip was practically invincible in battle, but this is the battle that sealed his ledgend as a master of war. Managing to isolate a portion of Abaadons Cavalry and destroy them to a man (well, woman). And then moving to a position of strength so as to check Abaddons advance, he forced Abaddon to pull back and abandon some of the gains furthest to the south.
Philip soon learned of Ulthars manipulation to keep him away, and soon turned south to head back towards the capital. In Philips favour is the fact that he won an incredibly loyal population base in the north, although it is threatened by Abaddons forces and Philip cannot be everywhere at once. To the south Ulthar has formed a stable power base, and crushed some of the more petty rebellions, although of the few skirmishes he has had with Philip, he has lost. Lois hangs in the balance, and even when this current crisis is resolved it is by no means certain that it will stabalise.
The Krengel Clans and the Izanagi both recognised one thing, that it was vital to remove the other so they could attain further power. The Krengel Clans however underestimated their opponants determination, and it is only through luck that the followsing events played out and the war still stands in the balance.
The Izanagi had raised levees to support their armies in the battle, and also raised a further 3 score Cavalry Hosts. But they were almost immediatly pressed upon by the Krengel Clans, who having a smaller force were quicker to strike. This threw the Inzanagi into a brief moment of confusion as they had not expected this, still of the mindset that they were the ones invading the other. The Krengel clans used this time well, with the Izanagi raising levees, their cattle was less defended than usual, thus the Krengel clans stole a great amount of the Izanagi's mobile wealth, and whilst the Izanagi responded to this central invasion, they also sent another force south then east to attack the Krengel clans directly, an eye for an eye. This attack manged to drive back the Krengel clans southern force through weight of numbers. At the same time the Izanagi were pushing back the central invasion force of the Krengels, they became encircled by a northen force of Krengel horsmen, although the Krengel forces were unable to maintain the Encirclement, they did make the Izanagi pay heavy a toll to break out. With this the Krengels deceided it was best to trade some space for time, sending messages home to levee some men. A message returned stating that this had already been carried out, due to the interference by some other power;
Singod, Abaddon had deemed the Krengel Presence on his border as dangerous, and after being compromised in Lois began what can best be described as a blood bath, he drove the Krengel Clans from the region, and did his best to ensure that they did not come back into the region so soon. Whilst the Krengel clans retreated to gain some perspective and form some defence, Abaddon stopped, and returned to Singod and turn his thoughts to Lois once again.
The Krengel Khan was angered by this, but deceided that now was not the time to punish Singod for this. His lightning war had failed, although as with any steppe war the situation is ever quick to change, the Izanagi have taken swathes of land to the south, whilst the Krengels still control some of Northen Izanagi, this war clearly stands in the balance, but the Izanagi need to develop better tacitcs as they are easily matched and often bested by the Krengels.
(-5000 Izangi Levees, - 2000 Izanagi Cavalry, - 2000 Krengel Cavalry, -4000 Krengel Levees, 1 eco point to Krengels from Cattle Raids, and other mobile wealth, - 3000 Singod Infantry, - 1000 Singod Cavalry)
