The Ambush at Mount Azin

Silence. An occassional horse snorted in the cold early morning, but the entire host of the Krengel Khan stood silent in the foggy valley on the far side of the mountain. The flags of the various troops fluttered lightly in the air as the Khan overlooked his forces. They had been here for many days, waiting for the predictable Izanagi counter-attack.

A soft sound began to build, a putter of many thousands of hoof beats on the farside of the mountain. The troops began to churn in the center of the Krengel host, excitement for the coming battle building within them. The Khan nodded to the warrior priests behind him, and they brought before him one of the captured warriors from the endless skirmishes occuring in the South.

"May Kringt give us strength this day, and weaken our enemies. I offer up this sacrifice to you, the Masked God, so that much knowledge of war may be gained this battle. Guide those who fall into your eternal hands, and mold those who live into warriors worthy of your power!"

With this relatively loud cry, the Khan stabbed a dagger deep into heart of the hapless sacrifice. The blood drenched the Khan's hands and face, and his clothes dripped it onto the ground. At the sight, his army silenced their talking, and looked up at him, waiting for the inevitable order. The sound of running horses was defeaning now, and it was clear that they were merely on the otherside.

With a bloodthirsty smile, the Khan took the bloody dagger and raised high into the air, "Now, to battle! Charge!"

The flags of the host began waving furiously, and the bloodthirsty cheer rose up from the Krengel army, and suddenly the army charged around the mountain, surprising the Izanagi force quickly moving past the mountain.

Twang

The arrows of the Krengel army flew in tune with each other, falling like rain upon the hapless remains of the former Izanagi force. The ambush worked perfectly, and the surprised Izanagi reserve force was quickly eaten alive by the charging Krengel's. Cut off from supplies by the attack on the reserves, the Izanagi attempted a desperately turn around and attack their enemies before all was lost.

Kept at bay for several days, the Izanagi began to feel the sting of lack of supplies, and were then easily encicled by a secondary Krengel force, and then weakened bit by bit by incessant arrows. While the Izanagi certainly fought back with arrows, weak with hunger as they were, they could not match the better supplied Krengel.

Yet, a small force led by their 'God' managed to break out, leaving the rest of the army to death as the Krengel force closed in. It was a masterful stroke of a battle, in which only Kringt could have had a part. It was certain now. The Izanagi were defeated, and the Krengel had won the battle of supremacy. It was time for celebration...

Oh yeah.. and LOVE ME!

Not untill you make Huran and Otha more visible.

edit: bleh, it's still kinda crude. But I'll give you a hug for that :p

Considering you can tell me that they are not visible enough leads me to conclude that they are infact visible enough.. they are only NPC's anyway :p

did it anyway.. happy now?

For your info neutral to your right, evil to your left.
According to this information sent to be by PM, Huran should be the blue nation, and Utha the red one. But Kal'thzar also said on the thread that it was the other way around.

@Kal'thzar: My expansion along the border with the blue nation is missing...

*cough* update *cough* :p

ooh goodie :):))::)

Update 3

Huran wakes up, or rather the King becomes less devious and becomes more PC...

The Worshippers of Death have invested money in an attempt to create a trade centre in the their capital, however the area is quickly approaching a saturation in trade centres, new markets either need to be opened up or other Trade centres taken. A bit more investment should turn Hra into a trade centre however.

This investment went hand in hand with the equipping and training of the previous Temple guard into a more deadly fighting force, this force is named the Death Guard. Auspicious in battle to say the least. Their Officers ride Jet black horses, whos effect on nearby morale is uplifting, although this could equally be attributed to the aura of fear they produce...

Utha falls into Cival war and petty revolt, the Bickering between the Priests and the cults has exploded and the King lies dead, posioned. The nations lies open for Huran or Rahinan to exploit.

Rahinan was silent this year, and expanded south a bit, it is now trapped between the remenants of Utha and Huran.

To the South, the Kingdom of Ordos prospers, a combination of Irrigations systems and a paved road network has increased the argicultrual production of the regions, and their project of exploiting the mountains has created another Trade centre therein, however further investment into the mining areas has proved fruitless, as they lack the mineral wealth for additional mines.

Further south, the Kingdom of Ordos hears whispers of great nations and steppe hordes....

To the North Polita, Lot and Acheron suffer from a new cult appearing, its members fanatical and dedicated. So far they have taken over some outlaying forts in Lot, sending lone assasins to kill off the various members of the Lot Council, these lone assasins take the form of cooks, indentured servents, soldiers, priests. And they are all willing to die. Needless to say the Lot army is currently attempting to lay siege to the various castles this cult holds, but the increasing paranoia of all people with power has let them survive for a great period of time, the nation has been greatly destabalised, and the cult has begun to spread to the Polita and Acheron, in an attempt to gain more power, in the end it could just cause Polita and Acheron to invade Lot.
(-3 Stability Lot)

Attolia and Binikos are suffering from increased Pirate activity in the Sea. The increasingly stangnent and decadent Dardos of the Exile, has so far done nothing to halt this trend, and Attolia has been concentrating on their holdings on the land instead, this has resulted in an increase of power of these pirates, and if nothing is done soon, the pirates might well seize a permanent base.
(-1 stability, Binikos, Attolia)

Kais has taken control of the trade in the area instead, turning their capital into a trade centre at the expense of the Binikos. And further developed their lands, building a series of forts along the border with Caladan.
(+1 Dread Kais, + Trade centre Kais, - trade centre Binikos)

Caladans ruler comes down with the flu, fortuntatly his advisors are amoungst the best educated in the world, and manage to continue many of his policies, and expanding to the North. During his illness, the peoples of Caladan gave him gifts and wished for him to return to health again.

Karsa, is well, Karsa. Defective babies are killed, as are all barbarian outsiders. 2000 of the best Levy'd men are trained as competant officers and other well serving men in the army. However if more men are to reach this level of training, the armies of Karsa will have to move and defeat those outsiders.

The Derios Republic falls, as the former heir apparent comes back with a fully equipped army and proclaims himself Emperor. The fighting is bitter, and the resulting chaos has meant that some of the former colonies have fallen into disrepair and been abandonded.

Aarkiania, invests heavily in its agricultural output, managing to increase it.

In Lois, the borders are expanded further, but with Uthar and any competent advisors of his increasingly old and unable to take proper action, Lois looks set for another period of trouble and strife.

Philip on the other hand a much younger man has entered his twilight years with an adopted child Alexander, who is being trained in the ways of war. Especially usefull since Darude has put them in charge of their armies. Much to Eriades Chargin.

The Krengels wage war on Singod and Gaznel, much hangs in the balance, assistance provided from the Ganzel learned men does not increase the education of the Singodese, the Gaznel investment to their new converts does however. On the flip side, the assistance provided by Ganzel has forced Abaddon to allow the conversion of his populance to the Ganzel faith. This has removed some of Abaddons authority. The Krengels on the other hand have integrated the Izanagi tribes to their own, and have managed to increase their cattle herds accordingly (as well as other minor things).

Random Events:

The Krengels mange to integrate the Izanagi with a great show of force and tacitcal genius, however the insight that Khan Batchi has, is rather unsettling. Or maybe his mind is. In either case the worship of the masked god spreads throughout the lands and to the south into the steppe lands, as word of the Khans victories preceded him.

(+1 project progress)

Military Events;

Aarkiania invades Opato, not that Opato wasn't ready for this, it mainted a slight superiority in ship numbers, crippling the two naval assualts that Aarkiania attempts, sending them reeling back to port to lick their wounds, though the naval forces manage to keep the trade routes open, through exploiting the long supply lines Opato suffers attempting to attack Aarkianian trade vessals.

On the land the Aarkianians fare slightly better, whilst outnumbered, lacking forces from the islands, the Aarkianians useage of Cavalry enables them to maintain an advantage in manouvrabiity, and they manage to rout first the professional army that is thrown at them, and then the a levy army raised to halt them. However the time gained by killing off this levy army has allowed the Opato Army proper to reorganise itself, and they have now managed to gain some horses to maintain a slight edge.

(-2000 Aarkiania Infantry, - 45 Aarkiania Ships, - 20 Opato Ships, - 5000 infantry, -7000 Levys)

In Darude Philip masterminds the defence of Darude against Eriade. His son remains in the capital, learning about court intrigues, perhaps Alexander will succeed where his 'father' failed?

Philips first moves is to crush the southern Pincer attack, drawing them into a mountain battle, and unleashing cavalry from behind, the Eriade army finds itself trapped between a sheer cliff face, and a hard place, the force is crushed, as in the first few minutes the flanking cavalry manage to demoralise and smash through the flank. The ensuing fight resolves after men begin to surrender en masse.

Philips next move is to send a force of levys north, and fortify the region in front of the advancing army. The Forts are well supplied and stocked, and the enemy is forced to respond when it finds out that Philip is Ransacking their homeland, and is almost at the capital.
Eriade has one more Battle in them.
(-10 000 Eriade Infantry, -2000 Darude Infantry)

A Great War.
The Krengels quickly levy a great many men and surge forward to attack the Singod armies. Singod however was quicker and retreat back to their own lands, and the fortified positions therein. The Great City of Fangar is a deadly place to assualt deep pits and briar thorns underneath the walls. Indeed the Krengel army is not quite sure what to make of the situation, the area is fortified and the large concentration of men has put a damper on their Dread tactics, the Army halts, making occasional probing attacks, and raiding parties around the edges of the fortified regions. These are repulsed.

However, the Krengels do not think in such linear paths, and the Khan is said to have laughed when he heard what happened, his Northen army seeking to distract the Singodese, finds that they have committed themselves to all the defence that brick and morter provides, effectivly doing their job for them.
The Khan had sent roughly half of their forces south, through barbarian lands to strike at the Singod capital itself, on their way they met a small force of Abaddons Angels. They were destroyed. Survivors were kept to give information of Singods plans. With this information in hand the Krengel Horde decsends upon the Singod Capital. It puts up a short fight, unfortunatly. This Resistance is met with the extermination of the city. The Khan then sends forth an army to cut off supplies travelling to Abaddons forces holed up in Fangar. Not to mention their Allies.

Time is Clearly against Abaddon and his allies. He must move to maintain supplies to his army, but as soon as he shifts a sufficient amount of troops to attack either army, the other Army will have time to press the weakened defences and take the city, and threaten his rear. He Could hope for a further levy from his remaning territories but the instability prevailant in Singod will probably prevent this. His last remaining hope, Gaznel are an ally and have other intrests.

(-950 Abaddons angels, - 2000 Singod Levys, - 1000 Krengel Levys)
