KalNES

When are orders due? (Friday?)

Yeah, you can usually raise a large number of conscripts pretty easily. I got about 120 divisions as Segu in two turns, and I really didn't press that for any higher numbers (not that 120 is a particallury high number).

So is it in relation to population size? Story needed? Negative effects?

You should keep in mind any limitations- you don't want to recruit 10,000 when your pop is 12,000 (unless, ironically, you have a culture that bids that way......). Of course there's negative effects- the same as any other conscription, you economy takes a hit, and you'll suffer larger casualties.

EDIT: I just noticed that I'm tied for the largest pop. Fun . Lois (or whatever the NPC that I'm tied with) is direct north (across the water) of me, correct?

How much contact with other nations do we have if any?

My orders, they have been sent!

@andis- Yes, that was quite a surprise. But you gutted your economy in doing so.

Well, I didn't have much to lose there did I :p most of my income came from trade anyway. I would anytime sacrifice 2 ep. income for 300 tousands (that was the amount of levies I *could* have levied).

Still dont understand now many i levees i could expect to raise should i need to... or is itsimply the case the more i ask for, the more it may damage society/economy.

I would say you can levy about 10% of your population. After that it will start damaging your economy. Though this varies by nation, try asking Kal'thzar for numbers.

Depends. If you need them because of war, ask the mod how many you can raise w/o harming your economy. If you have a peacetime levy, try doing something like "all males from 18-25 need to serve 1 out of every 7 years in the military", and then work out the numbers yourself (or else they'll probably be underestimated).

I know i am going to hate this update :( ...orders soon.

Kal' could you please PM me about levees?

Orders SENT.

10% is too high, even for, and maybe especially for an agricultural society. 2% would be a better rule of thumb in the real world (unfortunately, NESes tend to have staggeringly low populations).

Hung over again?

A gift to you all...
