Kamikaze CFC Contest !

I may not be able to get the files to run TOS. It took me 10 hours to download Rise and Rule once, and I don't think I can schedule another all nighter to download a scenario or mod pack...

Don't worry. I have no issue at all with ToS but for the challenge we will stick to basics : the Firaxis conquest.

We just need 1 more player ! Try to invite someone you know on the forums so we can start ASAP.

In-between I am reading the propositions of rules...

LouLong's already spoken about no T.O.S., just Firaxis WWII.

No limits on the air units stacked in a city is fine with me, but it will mean (early) game that Japan will stack tons of dive bombers and zeros in newly captured Indonesian cities as they leap frog forward. (Late) game the US will do the same thing coming back.

The airlift provision really needs some thought though - its a game breaker. It is possible for the U.S. player, on turn 1 (even when he's not supposed to be able to move) to stack 5 infantry units in Guam, rather than the pathetic little garrison it's suppose to have. You could do that each and every single turn to any U.S. city, making what is suppose to be easy targets, totally invulnerable. If we are not prepared to consider that, then at least remove game start airports from Guam, Midway and Pearl Harbour. That forces the U.S. player to rush build them (costing him a fair bit of money) before he can exploit the cheat.

Misfit

We can raise the VP because that is the case in Tanaka WWII scenario. I would hate to have AP in this game.
There should be no razing or city trading. In the PBEM that I am playing on this scenario playing as Japan, on one turn I managed to capture three cities that were gifted to other civs. So that is a lesson everyone had to learn the hard way. :D

Ooh...

That CLASSICAL HERO is a mean one, I'll tell ya! As a newbee in the TANAKA game he's referencing... I can testify to the "lessons learned."

You should see what he's doing to the Allies. We're Pathetic... (mostly because US (me) doesn't really know what he's doing yet.)

[There's a complement in there somewhere... along with a pony, I think]

sounds fun. I've played the senario once.

rules: doesn't matter to much but agree to: no razing, limits on gifting, 50k VP.

send to clausewitz1bcATgmailDOTcom

Loulong:

Looks like with von_Clausewitz added in we have a full house. Why don't you just pick the rules and get us started? We could debate this until the end of time.

Many thanks for taking the time to organize this event.

Full House !

I will send the rules this afternnon/evening or tomorrow morning (depending on whether Akots wants to add/correct a lot of stuff or not).

I just asked opinions so that I feel the mainstream rules that should not be forgotten.
I have a rather clear idea of it albeit not everybody will be happy about them of course. And I won't try to impose rules that cannot be enforced.

In-between, players of the first rounds wll be paired by Akots so expect it to start briefly !

And thanks to all to take part in this challenge ! We have 16 challengers which makes 4 rounds and is an overall meaningful number !

If I might suggest????

Just pair them up in the order they signed up. (ie 1st signup plays last signup, 2nd signup plays 2nd last signup etc.)

That's totally random since nobody knew they order people would jump in.

True for the first 8 players, but not for the last 8. :mischief:

Of course, I just want to avoid playing against you, Misfit! ;)

Seriously, any method for setting up teams is fine with me.

Akots : did you get my mails.

I have sent my part of the list to EliitMees (who found it "peculiar" to say the least lol
so when you sent your part we will have the pools.

Besides I asked you the question about saved games rather than biqs (means 16 games to start but lowers risks).

Just decide how you want the pairing: I can throw the dice anytime, let me know when you are ready to go.

Sooooo........Akots. Exactly what form of currency do you want your bribes to arrive in?
:D

I got the e-mails but can answer them only later in the evening when I get home.

@RJ: Since this is the first contests, I should apparently care more about my reputation as an independent and uninterested person and be as objective and strict with the rules as possible and not about how you can win this contest! Besides, you can win it anyhow apparently if you play well. ;)

Thus, absolutely no bribes are accepted. Well, certainly, you can stop building Copernicus in the Seafaring game or give away the Russian password you got from Steph in Grognards but this won't help even a tiny bit ....

Yeah, RJ, you can do that stuff, but it won't help...

The secret ceremony of pairing will take place shortly. There are two independent judges involved and one has compiled a list of players and another the list of letter. Both lists are random and pairing will be determined when the lists are matched. There is absolutely no way of influencing it for either person.

The secret ceremony has taken place and MC Loulong has posted it (lol).

And he is SOOOO glad he faces Rcoutme in the first turn ! :(

The first pool has Misfit (at least) and the second Rcoutme and Rubbejello (at least) : that's called Charybde and Scylla !

Rules to follow shortly.

Then I will put the biq for download and play.

In-between, players of each pair can try to organize with one another so that they can play their PBEMs real fast.

And whatever you do, please don't drop on me or the other player !

Do you want the teams to start tracker-threads for both games? Should we
send turn reports via email, or post them somewhere? And finally: Do the judges
get a copy of every save?

Again, thanks for setting this up, LouLong and akots!

Roger, roger, this is Aeon <static> ing in!

Tran <static> ieved, ready to commence Op <static> Tora Tora Tora!

(wish I had a japanese translator ;p)

PERSONALITY SWITCH

Ready to play on your mark. Emailing my compadre to see whats what.

Q: Loulong, maybe you should consider prestarting all the games and just sending us the .sav (and relevant passwords ;p)

That way nobody has a .biq on hand to cheat from if you change stuff. Remove the temptation, remove the danger.
