Semental and I have discussed having him concede the Misfit (Japan) vs. Semental (Allies) game. I'm over 25K VPs with him below 2K VPs on turn 4.

Its pretty ugly at this point with China conquered. I'd rather not make him play it to the bitter end.

What process do you want us to go through to register a concession?

Semental has to send us both a mail saying he wants to forfeit. Not that we don't trust you but it is normal the person who wants to forfeit informs us rather the one taking advantage of it ;p

I think it was mentionned in the rules but maybe he did not get it as he acted as replacement.

Point is forfeiting means losing the entire round (both games) as we could not compare the VPs at the end of the two games. So if he forfeits in this game it means he is "out" of the contest and you win the first round.

Hmm, he's away until Thursday evening, so I will point this out to him so he can make whichever decision is appropriate.

Given that our second game is, as yet, undecided, it wouldn't make sense to concede the first game yet if it means elimination.

Just curious, any thought to setting up a consolation round for those of us who lose the first round? I know I've learned a few things that would help me improve my performance for another game...

I've been playing single player the Barbarossa scenario. It is awesome and much better balanced than WWII in the Pacific. It is still a little bit glitchy but certainly worth a game or two. There is a multiplayer version however, I'm not sure as to the balance of it. It has substantially more units and there is no naval combat there. It would be a great thing to play in the final round of this contest but it is rather long, certainly more than 10 turns...

As I have conceded to Misfit, although we are continuing playing my Japan side (the Allied side got ugly really quick), I would be happy play a consolation round with Gnarfflinger or whoever is oposite of my bracket. Hopefully, I can make a game of it.

Good luck to Misfit in round 2. I would prefer to have had my butt kicked by the eventual winner!

So now we start to have a picture of the second round (except in case of big change).

First pool :

Aeon will probably meet Hawklord in the second round while Misfit will meet either classical_hero or el_Tigre (too early to know).

Second pool :

Viper 275 and Rubberjello will go to second round but no idea yet about their opponents.

I did not really plan consolation games except for the losers of the third round to get the third place.

I think it would be difficult to officialize something like that because obviously some want out of the contest. I think it would be easier to do it on a personal basis, kind of Semental can ask Gnarfflinger if he wants to do one game against him (with this scenario or another).

More importantly I have some ideas for a better stratergy next time. I'm sure Gnarfflinger will have done the same and be even harder to kill.

Just a thought, I'm a bit slow sometimes. That's the first game(s) I've ever won on PBEM, well it's the first I've ever finished actually!

Seriously though, Semental made a few really big mistakes at the start (which he'll never do again). I'm fairly certain neither classic_hero or El_Tigre will make.

Ha. Don't let Semental fool you folks. He played MUCH better in the second game. Now that he has some experience with the scenario, he'll be dangerous.
