lately i kill all AI Scouts on first contact and have found-

most of the time - (really all the time if you do not attack on absurd terrain conditions) a warrior is promoted.

Woodsman 2 to 3 in about 4 turns becaise the AI starting with a scout will have not one but two or three and will send them to your territiry. (lol) for yet another promotion for your units.

You recieve- a 2 move warrior or two, stop them popping huts you can pop (meaning tech or gold or map all of which you can use early) - a free worker as the AI can't cope with worker protection from 2 move warrior units- peace or war if you want after a few turns -

draw backs are that you can be at war with 3 or more civs in certain circumstances
however, even here- by the time the AI has axe at your door you should have adequate defenses to make a kill at the gates.

the evidence is clear- kill all scouts, kill all scout boats
 
On a pangea this could be a 3-4 negative diplomatic hit for attacking a friend and an additional -3 for DOW.

I dont see how you can steal a worker if you are at war as most will hide in the AI capital. If they work tile by capital then you have a chance.

Worst case scenario the Ai have copper/horse in BFC and come at you with axes or chariots. The strategy is not risk free. Roaming archers could be deadly too. I once had an Ai come at me with an archer with double movemnet on hills. Lethal!!

Attacking scouts is an easy way to promote a unit though. Wouldnt barbs be easier?
 
Great Wall is a fall back early- you don't fight barbs for promotions- you let the dead scout civs fight barbs for distraction

in essence making barbs the earliest ally available in the game- and the earliest spy that can't be ejected from
enemy territory. in lieu of this wonder however - such a game still has more dynamic

perhaps a walk through would be warrented but it would be interpretive and as such cottage building types may become confused.

a combination of "Attacko's Slave Empire"... " Attacko's Guide to Avoiding Vassal Hassle and Culture Flip".. and "A Visual Guide- Attacko's How not to Play Stupidly on Civ4"

the odds are at worst 50 50- you win or you lose.

the evidence is clear- Some in an attempt at taking on "all" forget a simple manuever- focus on one small part (in this case Scout mastery)

Hammy would provide useful defence if you had archers. Aztecs would be fun with their UU! I do hope you would play this strategy with a few Ai worthy of it?

Maybe Shaka, Greeks, French and a few others.

agree- the two optimal civs for this.

one can watch a settler- if spotted early- set off- have units on the ready and get more workers. not with a choke - rather with a scouting unit (not necc. a scout)

A Hammurabi/Montezuma walkthrough would be clear. (the evidence?)
and note they are single leader Civs- resourcless unique units

Single leader civs with recourceless unique units are better for early aggression according to Venn Diagram Analysis
 
yes, i go by syntax over practice
that way if a guy is talking gutteral, and dressed like a wildman and happens to speak the truth- i can skip it and listen to someone dressed well , and adjective correct

the athenians were much better off taking the advice of Alcibadies rather than a fool peasant on the street that said "invading an island across the "uncertainly"(adv here-) seas while in the middle of another war may not be a good idea"

If someone speaks gutural, the more likely thing to happen is that you don't understand him anyway :p

But, regardless, it is a strange postion for someone that said this:

yes, a chinese rice farmer knows much more about Chinese history than an english guy teaching Chinese history at Yale.
Because i am an american i know more about american history as well and if some non wiki researcher from Europe challenges assertions i have my citizenship to fall back on.
The evidence is clear -Troy has no memory or is schizofrenic. Any way it would be dangerous to follow his advice ;)
 
I actually like this idea, except that it's quite difficult to CATCH the scouts when they're twice as fast as your starting warrior.
 
i will do a walkthrough but i have to reload and patch and the like then take screenshots

(again Hammurabi might be good for a reason not to have to suspect reload fake walkthroughs that are all over the place here - "i have bronze here, wow- let me show you what i did next (lol)

however more a soliquoy- no comments needed -except from guests who may care to join in the comedy of member delusion and collusion.

Automated workers, leave old improv don't chop- auto promote

Start-Warrior dies- Hunting Archery- theres a scout- spain- he is dead

no chase needed he walks into death- and then guess what- as foretold- another comes into range and likewise dies-

northern unit (autopromote mind you) and the computer gave it..Guerilla- the first Bowman was given Garrison-at the end of this series the two had- Triple Garrison and
Garrison/ Guerilla.

I find Horse , i find Bear -northern unit (guerilla - to locate on hill- kills bear) southern unit triple city garrison on the southern flank where i assume spain is.

The evidence is clear... you killed a scout and some animals. Now that is a huge sucess, without doubt ;)

P.S I definitely wonder how did you got a 5 XP bowman before any attacks :D
