I just saw volume 1, and I absolutely loved it. I was never too fond of Pulp Fiction and Resevoir Dogs, but Quentin surely hit paydirt with this one.

I can't wait to go see volume 2, especially since David Carridine is in it.

I found the Bride to be an utterly fascinating character, and I thought the gory kung-fu scenes were just fantastic.

Care to share your thoughts?

The action is Part I was better, Part II was more character driven.. David Carradine turns in a very solid performance, but Uma Thurman blows him away, acting-wise.

Dude, both parts are awesome.

Part 1 - great fight scenes, excellent music, decent plot

Part 2 - you'll have to see it in theater yourself :)

The most common thought in my mind while watching a rental of Vol. 1 was some variation of "Uma Thurman sure is kicking some ass." Following close behind in second was "****in' A!!"

Anyone else think Ms Thurman is hot? Anyone else start to think that after seeing her kick some ass with a sword?

I think the funniest scene was when she grabbed the last member of the Crazy 88s, bent him over her knee, and proceeded to spank him with her sword "This is what you get for ****ing around with the Yakuzas. Go home to your mother."

What I'm waiting for is a dvd that has both parts running together seamlessly (watch Vol. 1 which goes right into Vol. 2).

I just saw Kill Bill Vol 2 tonight. Not bad. I actually preferred Pulp Fiction to either of them. You might ask how the hell did I see a first run movie in Baghdad? I don't know how they do it but the locals always manage to get the films here within days. I'm sure that it is completely legal;) .

Can't stand the director - and the movie offends me.

It makes out a blonde aryan can beat Asians and show them who is boss.

Racist crap.

There is nothing even remotely racist about it, since it was never suggested that her race had anything to do with it. Race was not brought up in the whole film, I think the problems may be at your end.

I'm also not a fan of Tarantino's previous films, but I'm a big fan of Kill Bill.

Nice of you to lump all Asians together.

*yawn*

Yes - clumsily try to push the focus on to me.

A beginner's tactic.

My charge of Tarantino's anti-Sino/Japanese tack still stands.

Sure.

Having a white woman in the costume of Bruce lee, along with all the other hideous stereotypes in the movie.

It is a movie for Americans/Westerners who know little about Eastern culture - and champions an aryan has the heroine.

Well it stands unsupported. Do give us some evidence of Mr. Tarantino's racism. I've seen several of his films and haven't detected it.

Wait a minute Curt. It's okay for Jackie Chan to beat up a load of kung-fu guys because he's Asian. Yet it's not okay for Uma Thurman because she's white. :hmm:

I didn't think the Japanese considered themselves as Asians.

OK, a misleading term on my part - but let's not cloud the issue.

The movie gives off the wrong signals.

Chan's movies do not have the same focus as Tarantino.

You are forgetting this is a hollywood flick, with all the geopolicital subliminals of such.

While I don't think Tarantino's films exhibit racism towards Asians, his nonblack/white characters are a bit stereotypical.

I already have.

The blonde aryan beats up tons of 'evil' Easterners.

Does that mean you don't like Chuck Norris movies, Curt? ;)

At least ol' Chuck is honest about his stereotyping.

PS
Lone Wolf McQuade - top stuff!

A film is a film is a film. You can't judge certain films differently because of where they happen to be made. A film can be racist if it is made in Hong Kong, Hollywood, or Bollywood. You simply have ducked out of the difficult question. What is the difference between what Tarantino is doing and what Jackie Chan is doing? Because the only difference I can see is that Tarantino is white (and therefore racist against Asians) but Jackie Chan is not (and therefore isn't racist against Asians).
