If we play a normal game (i.e. w/o modifications, just plain PTW Civ3), why don't you let me set it up? I had already done one for the game I'm playing with donsig.Originally posted by Lt. 'Killer' M.
as for the game: no idea. I'll try again, I hope we do not need to go to gamespy all 8 at the same time......
KD: how did you set up the other PBEMs you are playing?
I'll try again right now.

OK, Heiner. Everybody appreciates the effort you are putting into this.
If your friend makes the .bix file, maybe he should create the game and test to make sure that all 8 human civs get a turn.
This is how I create a pbem game:
1) Must have internet connection.
2) Start PTM unless it's already started
3) Multiplayer
non-scenario one
4) Host
5) Check box by 1st name and click "Launch"
6) Select Game Type -> Plat by Email
7) Select Game Mode -> Scenario, select .bix file from list
8) Select all human players by selecting "Add human player" from the drop-down list for each player, then select all civs to the right of each player name.
9) Select rules under players box
10) Click Launch button
Is that how you do it? What do you mean by "normal MP game" ?
stalin006: I agree. Why do we have to connect to gamespy to create a pbem game, which is really like a hotseat game with passwords? I suppose the idea is to make development and program maintenance easier, but I'm not sure firaxis is going to be happy with this way either.
I dimly remember setting up a PBEM w/o going to Gamespy or accessing the internet. You have to specify the location as 'local'.Originally posted by sumthinelse

You have to specify the location as 'local'.IIRC.
I'd prefer a normal game and if you started out bad, well, it's just isn't your day....Originally posted by Lt. 'Killer' M.
KD: we start with a nive size 3 town each to even out starting pos differences (especially available shields) A friend set it up so it should be OK. Random starts give so ****ty positions so often we might have to start again several times....
