Kissing

Well, the three most sensitive parts of the human body - the hands, the lips, and the genitals - all have their part in human romance...

Kisses, from the perspective of Anthropology of Religion and Human Behavior, are considered to be spiritual in the sense of how it stimulated early peoples. Like how Shamanism, Animalism, and Totism refer to visions from dreams as being interaction between the divine and humankind, kisses have spiritual interaction between two human beings.

If you pinpoint it to the common trait amoung a majority of all religion, young and old, kisses began by blowing breathe and not smooching. One mate would blow breathe into the others mouth and then the same backwards. This action was considered to an exchange of each other's souls. The same souls legitamized in dreams and visions. This early style of kissing formally intiated the exchange of souls to become one soul. That's what brought on monogamy in the sense that exchanging souls with too many people can cause you to be possessed.

I seem to lean towards this version of why people kiss because I do see it as being a religious or spiritual act in the way that people experience and perceive exactly what it is doing to them. People who believe kisses are just kisses, hugs are just hugs and sex is just sex are often considered to be cold on one hand, and non-passionate thus they are often considered to not be good at what they are doing. Dont forget that the animal act of kissing or in the case of humans acting animalistic, falls into the spiritual sense because passion has to exist, without it you are a robot.
