How do you continue to grow when you start running specialists? I hit ~20 population around ~100, but running specialists for 8 specialists (6 for guilds 2 for university) my growth was shafted until I reached the modern era.
1. For CV, you shouldn't work musician guild nor even build it until modern if you go for broadway bonus (although its technically detrimental and only worthwhile if you have enough faith to rush-buy multiple GMs after internet).
So you should only be working 6 specialists.
2. OCC is about growth wonders as I explained in the thread. So I had gotten ToA and HG, was working all farms/terrace farms in priority over hammer tiles. I also spent nearly all of my gold to sustain CSs (for science through scholasticism) instead of RAs. On deity, it is slightly more efficient(strictly science wise) to run RAs usually but the extra yield (namely allying culture CSs to prevent AIs from allying them and thus running away further in culture) helped get through rationalism faster/slow Greece down/get commerce to encourage AIs to further send trade routes my way.
But nonetheless, if growth is at risk, don't work great artists until you grow more. GW is niche as you can bulb SPs (namely rationalism/secularism/+right path possibly
I didn't show the city SS but I finished the game with 0 great works of writing (I bulbed the 5 or 6 ones I produced, namely the 2 ones I had around T130 for more rationalism tree).
I also only had 3 great works of music for broadway no more and this was only done because I had an outstanding faith yield as otherwise I micromanage the first GM pop one turn after internet to send them for concert bombs.
Tourism is about:
1. hoarding GAs if necessary to manage theming bonuses for Sistine and/or Uffizi and Louvre but this one is typically a joke to get through trades.
2. spamming archeologists to fill all remaining art slots
3. spamming as many wonders as possible and enacting +3 culture per wonder/religion and going freedom because between NVC/hotel and (possibly) airports, this converts into an extra 15 TPT per wonder (let alone any baseline culture the wonder has).
With sub T250 internet, you need about 600 TPT and 4-5 GMs (so 5k faith and a fresh GM guild for 100/200 GPP cost) for a safe vc immediately after GM bombs. So I had a lot of room to breath near 900. I could've spared a few wonders out and settled 2 GW to get oxford bonus to offset the wonders but with 7 works of art (delay the free one from aesthetic as late as possible for it to be worth 500-700 points - possibly spare 1k faith for a single purchase if it will allow an extra theming bonus) and around 10 artifacts was plenty with the number of wonders petra allowed me to spam.
I think the only renaissance+ wonders I missed were globe theater, hejimi and red fort. That was with the help of 1 GE from ToA+Petra and an additional GE from Pisa (this slightly slowed my tech rate as its 1-2 fewer settled GSs but it allowed me to rush Uffizi/louvre just to manage the crazy absurd hammer requirement of renaissance for wonders. I delayed big ben significantly as no AI took commerce until late. I did broadway/Eiffel like 40 turns after using oxford to radio (for early ideology) and also delayed PT slightly as Korea was slightly behind me in tech.
Anyway sorry to derail for very CV specific stuff. Long story short - don't overcripple growth for specialists. Run only scientists+1-2 writters until you can afford to shift hammer tiles/new citizens to additional slots. Don't work great musicians if you play CV. Only work it for other CVs in a similar fashion if you aim to do a 8 turn pass before bulbing great writers.
